The buildup toward the moment has been a long time coming.

Marquardt is Prepared for Anything
Boston, MA -- Matt Marquardt may be a rookie, but in terms of hockey he’s anything but inexperienced.
After being named 2005 Rookie of the Year in the CJHL, the left wing moved to the QMJHL to play for the Moncton Wildcats and Baie-Comeau Drakkar. With two forty-goal seasons in his last two years of QMJHL play, Marquardt arrived in Wilmington with a stacked resume and a positive demeanor that has carried him through the early optional practices and the first days of rookie camp.

Bruins need youngsters to step up
WILMINGTON - When Bruins [team stats] training camp opened up at this time a year ago, kids like Milan Lucic, David Krejci, Vladimir Sobotka and Matt Hunwick were just names on a list. Few observers were predicting the prospects would see much time during the NHL season with the B’s.
But the Bruins got enormous contributions from their youngsters, and the upside represented by the kids is a key reason for optimism that the team can take a big leap forward this season.

Comfortable Marc Savard ready to get going

That wasn’t the case last September when the Bruins were getting acquainted with new head coach Claude Julien and his divergent methods of conducting business on the ice. This year, Savard returns to a team fundamentally the same as the one that was eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs in a grueling seven-game series with the Canadiens.

Can Manny Fernandez stay healthy enough to form a fearsome goaltending duo with Tim Thomas?
The question came up right off the bat last season. After coming over from Minnesota via trade and assuring people he’d be fine, Fernandez admitted he wasn’t able to make all the saves in the Bruins’ preseason opener. Four regular season games and a 3.93 goals-against average later he went under the knife.

BRUINS: Bergeron ready to go
WILMINGTON — Patrice Bergeron has one more test to pass before he can return to the Boston Bruins: a pre-camp physical on Friday, a day before the team's first official practice at TD Banknorth Garden.
"It was a long journey and I'm very happy I'm over it and looking forward," said Bergeron, who hasn't played in a game since Oct. 27, when a hit from behind by Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Randy Jones sent him face-first into the top dasher of the end boards, resulting in a broken nose and cheekbone and a severe concussion
