Yes cheechoo has struggled, and its already a foregone conclusion that he's a regular season bust in Ottawa (I only say that because I thought he could at least get 10-15 goals, which he won't). That being said, I don't think his career is over at all. The man still finds a way to get scoring chances, and he's had plenty. How many posts/cross bars has he hit? Ppl may say that doesn't matter...Diddle that, of course it matters. Brennan is just kicking cheechoo while he's down in this article.

If he's not traded, I'm hoping cheechoo can display some of his resolve in the playoffs where most of our players disappear. I'm also hoping Cheechoo can score to shove it down these SUN writers' throats.

Btw, if there ever is a drive to get one or both of Garrioch/Brennan fired, sign me up.

That's what CheapShots does. He ran Corvo out of town too, probably because he was making his boyfriend Wade Redden look bad.

By the way, the timing of the article is pretty sneaky because a few days ago, Del Shannon had the same amount of points and a worse +/- than Cheechoo.

Brenan is an absolute hack. The guy probably cant even skate and he talks like he knows something about the game. Maybe we should bring in some guys that will get their 30 goals and rip the team apart eh... he's making 3 mil, deal with it. If he was making 1.5, even 2 people wouldnt say a word.

Guess people need something to complain about in Ottawa since their goaltending has been amazing. I hope Cheechoo scores a huge goal in the playoffs just to shut everyone up. The guy should have 10-15 goals right now if he had any luck what so ever. There is still a lot in his game that shows he can be productive.

Sure. I'm sure CheapShots also noted that Cheechoo has more even strength minutes than The Runaway and far less PP time. Thus making the Del a more prolific - player.

Nope, it didnt. Some people will never be happy, this team could win a cup and Cheechoo score the OT winner in game 7, people would still cry about him making 3 million because of regular season production.

Again, it's gutless.

Cheech sounded pretty frustrated when I heard a snippet from him on team 1200 this morning.

Feel bad for the guy, he should be doing better and obviously thinks he can.

Now on his 500th game, Brennan is taking a run at him.

Hope he scores against Calgary Smile

A side effect of the salary cap.

Fans and journalists are always targeting who isn't earning their salary. The higher the salary the more scrutiny, just ask Jason Smile

Probably rooted in the general public's disdain for professional athletes and their large salaries in general.

C'mon Cheech...you can do it man. You can bulge the twine and get going.

The one thing I would heavily suggest is that he gets the left side of the PP with Spezza and Kovalev. Just stand there, don't ever move, not once, just stand there like Holmstrom - but the the left of the net and wait for an opportunity to put one top shelf. He obviously still has the shot, we've seen it, now it's time to get him onto PP1 where there's a ton of room for him. He can not longer fight for the room properly, so we need to get him in a position where it's a little easier for him.

This is what we Cheechoo defenders have been saying since about game 5 of the season. He's doomed to failure (scoring wise, because his effort is there), because he's not given an opportunity with guys who can help him to score with any regularity.

He was doomed to failure before he got here. That's pretty evident imo.

He's fresh by the time a PP comes along because of his limited ice time. Once and for all, if you want this guy to succeed, you need to plunk him on the left side of Spezza on the PP (because he likes to dip to one knee to receive a pass).

Get him on PP1, keep him on PP1, maybe he gets hot, maybe not, but you can't find out without him being on PP1 for a long, long time.

You hear Sens coaches? You read this site I'm sure: put him on PP1.

Spez, Cheech gets 20 seconds of PP time (if any), which is time for one good rush. If Clouston had any intention of making him a cornerstone on our PP he'd have done so by now.

Clouston values speed in his system and it's obvious Cheech has no place here. He should be traded/waived/bought out. It's possible he could be successful on another team with another coach/system.

But he has no place here and Clouston hasn't shown the slightest intention of giving him a bigger role. We won 11 straight with Cheech on the 4th line, even more reason for CC to keep him there.

It doesn't matter if Cheech can be a succesful NHL player again, he will most certainly not do it here in Ottawa.

Clouston is a pretty fair coach. If Cheechoo has a good game, you can be sure he's gonna get some minutes with one of the 2 first lines later in the game. If he hasn't , it means he didn't deserve one yet.

Cheech does play a good hard working game, which is why he hasn't been benched yet.

I think his lack of speed means Clouston doesn't want him on the top 6 or PP for any extended period of time.

Shannon has consistently gotten more chances at the top 6 over Cheech, even though they put up similar numbers. Clouston wants speed in the top 6.

Cheech has zero chance of success here, he can score a hat trick and I'll bet he'll still get 4th line minutes tops.

Yeah fat chance he'll get a hat trick.

I don't think Clouston wants a speedy opposing forward blowing by Cheechoo for a goal which is why he limits his ice time.

Well he can score with no goalie in the net and no opposing defenceman pestering him ...

I thought Kovalev would win the accuracy challenge hands down.

damn you make a valid point there, and well, did Kovy win anything? I don't think so, it was either that one or the puck control, figured he was good for one of those.

He's worth about as much as a late-model Toyota right now.

So he is or isn't part of the recall? Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

I'll call Tokyo and get back to you.

Thanks.

If I didn't know better I'd say you lifted that from Engrish.com. Sarcasm

Kovy won the shootout with the most fan cheers just ahead of Ruutu.

Cheech is summed up as such....

Nice guy
Hard worker
NHL hands
AHL speed
High school stamina... (I am sorry but I have never seen a guy suck wind more than him)

IMO the top 3 are not enough to make up for the bottom 2. Just my opinion. In the end, we are stuck with him, and he with us.
