Fisher has played well without Kovalev, so what's the point? Shannon hasn't had much chance to play, he's a call-up for injury. Let him play. Last year he was hot with Fisher and Foligno.
Spezza tries out there, more than Kovalev. I want a guy that wants to be here, not a guy who still wishes he was a Canadien.

Ryan Shannon, a guy some people here said played his last game a s a Senator, probably shut many of you up last night. Peter Regin has 3 goals on the season, and can only get better. Why would we mess with chemistry? Kovalev can sit for all I care, till he Wing Dang Doodle about not playing and leaves the team for good.
Fisher had a great game but he's been more productive overall with Kovalev. Del Shannon played well last night but his inability to sustain that kind of game has been demonstrated already.
Besides, I think something has to give with Spezza and it should be a game or 2 on the second line with Kovalev with Fisher taking over on the 1st.
Very well said.

As soon as Shannon scores a goal we'll talk about him staying in the lineup over a guy who is going to get 20 plus.

You think Kovalev is going to score 20+ yet are certain Spezza won't? You have this hate on for Spezza, but I can't dislike Kovalev's poor attitude and lack of commitment and effort?

Im pretty sure I said I think Spezza will end the year with around 20 goals... a few times.
There is a whole lot of difference between Spezza and Kovalev though, besides a Stanley Cup.

The good news for Cheechoo this morning is that he didn't wake up and find out he'd been waived.

Might the Brodeur brothers face each other? Will it be awkward since each brother married each others ex-wife (or something like that)? Is it delivery?

I hate to say this, but what's the difference paying 3 million for him to suck on the 4th line or to have him try to get Bingo to a playoff spot?
Again, I hate to say that because he's worked hard, but there's a time when guys have to face reality - and that reality is not looking great for Cheechoo.

Not really a surprise. Now they have an excuse to sit Leclaire longer without people worrying about his lower body injury.

They're also keeping him out of harm's way by taking him off the bench.
Oh man, I hope he doesn't suffer another injury somehow by being in the stands.

Apparently Leclaire will be out for at least 4 weeks with a busted cheek bone. Bummer! Just when he was starting to play really well too.
I (and I'm sure most of us) was just waiting for something like this to happen to him. We got a guy that gets injured a lot. Did I think it would go down this way? No...but, what are you going to do? We'll have to fight through this. Hopefully Brodeur can steal the few games he'll be playing, and I have faith in Elliott. So, as sh1tty as this is, I'm sure we'll be fine.

On Leclaire and injury
Senators number one goaltender Pascal Leclaire has a fractured cheekbone and will miss up to a month of action.
Leclaire was injured during the second period Monday when he was hit in the face with a puck while sitting on the team bench. The puck flew up off the ice and struck him in the left cheek.
The club called up Mike Brodeur today on an emergency basis from their AHL farm club.
Leclaire was already out nursing what was believed to be a minor, lower-body injury during Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Washington Capitals when the latest injury took place. He left the bench and did not return.
His original injury occurred on the weekend, when the Senators beat the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. He appeared to injure his lower leg when a Penguins forward fell on him in the crease. Leclaire stayed in until the end of the period, but backup Brian Elliott finished the game.
Elliott also played Monday's game, and will now have to shoulder the bulk of the goaltending duties during a stretch when the Senators start to spend a lot of time on the road. Ottawa travels to New Jersey Wednesday to face the Devils, then return home Thursday to face Columbus before hitting the road for a week-long trek through Boston, San Jose, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Anaheim.
Brodeur, 26, has appeared in 15 of 20 games this season with Binghamton, posting a 5-4-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.92 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.
The 6-2, 190-pound Brodeur was the AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 8, turning aside 94-of-96 shots in three appearances (2-1-0) that week while recording a 0.67 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

I doubt he'll be out a month. In a couple of weeks the swelling will be done, the fracture will be almost healed and he'll be back in practice. I suspect by mid-December he'll be playing again.

I know people will say that he's playing well defensively, but for $7 million, I need to see Spezza's name on the score sheet. Another game in the books and he hasn't gotten a point. This is starting to become a concern. Sure he may have become more defensively responsible to perhaps make the Olympic team, but he won't be there with no offensive output.
Yuuuuuuuuuup.
Chris Kelly is adding more to The Sens right now then Spezza is, ten fold.
Literally, if you think about things, Spezza right now is this teams 3rd best center. Kelly is actually just as effective offensivly right now, working the PK, and is just better without the puck.
Spezza is in deep right now. He is the teams highest paid player by an absolute mile.
Pretty sure Alfie is paid more than Spezza if not fairly close.
Let's see the chemistry between Michalek and Kelly, see how that PP unit works out.
Last week you were trumpeting Spezza's play, now this week he is our thid line center on his way out the door.
Kelly adding more than Spezza ten fold...don't be rediculous. Man you love to talk out both sides of your mouth!

This isn't even his fault. This is just stupid.
Did I say this was his fault? No. He's just one of those goalies that gets injured all the time. That's all I mean here, how many games will he actually play this year and next?
For the record, I think PKC meant that this isn't even his fault - and that this is just stupid that this keeps happening - especially in bizarre ways like this, not that your suggestion was stupid.
Fair enough, I hate these message boards for that reason. My bad.

Why are we re-hashing the same Dung all the time?
So much fairweather-ism with Sens fans.
One week Spezza is worth every penny, the next he's Dung.
One night Kelly is a stud worth every penny, the next we're looking to ship him out for anything.
One second we're talking about how great the Kovalev signing is, the next everyone is talking about trade options/benching him.
We trade for Cheechoo, know exactly what to expect and somehow when he's meeting those expectations (of struggling), he's still not good enough and we're re-hashing all the same Dung we've been talking about forever.
One poster is always flip-flopping on like literally every single thing we talk about in here.
Others just prefer to avoid the realistic situation their team is in.
It's starting to get agitating a bit to come in here and talk hockey with some of these 'know-it-alls'.
I respect that everyone has an opinion and I'm certainly not saying that people shouldn't present their points of view. It's just too much flip-flopping in here on this team.
You know why Toronto fans are better than Sens fans? Because they never give up on their team. They get disappointed that the team isn't what it used to be and that they just can't get the pieces in place to make it better.
But they come in to OUR building and outcheer us. And they do a damn near close job of doing the same at the Bell Center. And at pretty much every building they can get to in numbers.
Pathetic.
Instead of tearing down the guys all the time over every little niggling thing, why not back them up? Why not stand behind them for once for more than when the good times are around? Complaining is so easy to do. Standing up and saying you support your team no matter what takes balls.
What we need to do is start a campaign to make ScotiaBank Place the loudest, noisiest, most annoying building in the league to play in. We need to inspire these fans and these users to stop being so negative about every little mistake and misstep that the team makes.
It's one thing to criticize a mistake, but it's something else to be a flip-flopper, fairweather, bandwagon-riding "fan".
It's time we changed that. And it needs to start with these forums and be disseminated to every fan in this city who bleeds red.

Yeah, I'm referring to this guy's unbelievably Dung luck.

What are we going to do with Cheechoo anyway? What a waste of 3M. It's starting to hurt more and more. The crappy part too is that he's pretty good, not 3M worth, but he has his moments. The thing I always notice with him though is that he's about 10 steps behind the play, ALL THE TIME! He can't skate at all. He's not cut out for the new NHL, he's waayyyy too slow now. He's slower than Richardson was if that's possible. It's really starting to get frustrating. And, what a horrendous giveaway yesterday. That, I thought, was the end of the game for us. He felt horrible about it, but he just can't afford to be doing stuff like that. If he had 10 goals by now it'd be different, but he doesn't.
