You draft your entire team, my most recent one was this weekend, I drafted a team of young guys, young awesome prospects all around. My goalies are Dubnyk (absolutely amazing goalie, he's silly) and Howard. In the minors I have Niemi and someone I took in the "real" draft.
My d-men are C. Franson - Pieterangelo - Lepisto *get this guy, teams would kill to get him* - Volchenkov & Kindl and I traded for Weber as well.
Forwards - Okposo - Malkin - Michalek -
Backlund - Stamkos - Samuelsson (my only "old guy" for experience)
McGinn - Anisimov - Bergfors
I can't remember my 4th line at the moment...

Anyways, so I drafted all of these guys and my cap hit is something like $30Million total. I have so much money left I don't know what to do with it. My minor league is stacked on wing and D, but I need to work on my Centermen. It is sooooooooooooo much fun to do and it makes you appreciate the game even more since it's a team that you built yourself. I've won 2 of 5 games so far...I'm playing on Pro for the 1st time and am having some serious issues with my defense, but it's getting better. They're all very close games.

Try it, you'll love it! Guaranteed! :)

Who did you trade to get webb. I have been having the darnest time trying to get him,

I traded for Weber, think it was Fisher, Volchenkov and Lee. Something like that I think.

I traded 1 D prospect (can't remember who, I'll have to check it was literally some dude) a roster player (again, can't remember who) and a 3rd round pick to get him. I'll check when I get home and let you know. This NHL10 loves prospects, just loves them. It's easy to trade with prospects. I had the hardest time ever getting Stamkos, then I traded them a 1st and 2 prospects and got him. :o)

Nice, it's official: CHL is in NHL 11!

http://www.gamefocus.ca/?nav=new&nid=9499

The licensing agreement between EA SPORTS and the CHL allows the following to be included in NHL 11:

• Ability to play with all 60 teams that make up the CHL
• Names and Likenesses of players that are on the rosters of a CHL team
• Mastercard Memorial Cup
• CHL new RBK Edge Jersey design in NHL 11
• WHL, OHL and QMJHL logos and league structures

No fake players! Woo hoo! Taylor Hall should go back to junior just so I can play with him on the Spitfires lol

Love the idea of no fakes. Will allow players to really familiarize themselves with CHL players.

Does this mean I should start shopping for an expansion HDD for my PS3? Or do I somehow tell my kids that NHL 2010 is it, there will not be any more.

By the way, I just read a review on Mario Galaxy-2. They said it was fantastic. We love the first one. Too bad the Wii has been relegated to the upstairs TV (which is smaller and there's less room for "spectators"). And I doubt they'd release it for the PS3 (even with the new motion controllers).

On IGN, is that like an average rating or do they have their own in-house reviewers? If it's the former, then a that number will adjust downward as more reviews are added. The game is not officially available until tomorrow.

I hope I don't need the Motion Plus for the game as that will drive the price up another $50.

It's their own rating. IGN is one of the biggest video games sites.
If you want to see the average among journalists:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/supermariogalaxy2

an impressive 97. NEver seen that before.

I guess my wallet just got $60 lighter. Nothing on RedFlagDeals.com, and shopbot.ca shows $5 off at Dell.ca. Not sure if it's worth the extra wait, especially given that it's a long weekend. Wonder if anyone will have it on sale early.

It's just not fair. The MSRP is $49.99 but here, in Canada, it's $59.99, even though the dollar was recently at par. Then I see Frys.com has it for $39.99!

Typically the games they want are not the ones that I want to give up. With a few exceptions most of the games we have are the older (Gamer's Choice) ones. And the few exceptions that we get as soon as they come out, we're probably still playing them.

NHL 11 is going to be awesome just for the CHL alone. Most likely you will be able to move players from the CHL leagues to the NHL as you could with the SEL, DEL, SM-LIGA, National League, etc.

I suppose the onyl way it could get better is if they added the KHL or at least the players from the KHL.

Red Dead is awesome.

I'm not much of a Wii player but I might try SM Galaxy 2

I could never commit to a dynasty/bagm career. I always got tired of it or a new roster came out so i would start over, or I wouldn't like the team I had made via trades lol

Got SMG2 today. The kids pitched in $10 each and I paid the rest. Snooty cashier at Best Buy gave me a hard time about have so many payment methods. I thought I'd pick up a blu-ray or two, but the prices are still stupid. Fifth Element is one of the ones I'm still looking at replacing, but they are charging $28 for it -- it's a 13 year old movie, FCOL!

Anyhow, the game is great. Same as the first one, with a few new things (like being able to ride a Yoshi) and all new "sets". Thing is, there's only three saved games and I've got 4 kids (plus myself). That's going to be a problem.

Don't forget Eberle and MPS too Smile

Edmonton will be a sick team to play a dynasty with though, cause they have such a great young corp and you can easily make that team a contender by getting a goalie. Sign some FA's like Zherdev and Jagr too.

Re: What video game are you playing?

Post by Bass Destruction on Mon Aug 09, 2010 12:45 pm

EA Sports has released some more details about NHL 11, and boy does it look exciting. Seems like they haven't made leaping strides like in previous years, but the tweaks do seem like they will make it a lot more fun.

- Broken Sticks will be included in the game. As well as when they are broken, if the puck hits them, it will affect the trajectory, so they will still be in play. Also the ability to hand your stick to your defenceman if it was them who had theirs broken.

- New Physics Hitting Engine: promises to make every hit different. The way you hit someone will directly affect how they react to the hit. Hit them low, they may flip over you. Hit them high, they will go down. To the right, they will spin, and so forth.

- New Faceoffs engine: Ability to kick the puck back. Ability to tie up the other player, gain body position. Lift their stick up. Take shots right off the draw, or just try and win it normally.

- Bringing back the old passing system where the length of time you hold the button determines how powerful the shot will be.

- Disallowed goals: There will be disallowed goals due to highsticking it in, or if it doesn't really go in. The play will be reviewed and determined whether or not it was good or not.

- The CHL will be in it, including all players, as Big Ev mentioned above.

- The Ultimate Team: a feature adopted from the FIFA and Madden series. I'm not going to try and explain it, but instead let you watch this instrumental video, not hosted by a beautiful woman:

I loved that series as a kid, now I get to play the first game which I missed.

Yeah I got them for 360. Still fun to this day.

I'm looking forward to NHL 11, Dead Rising 2, NBA Elite.

EA is releasing a new NBA Jam as a download when you buy NBA Elite 11.

And Nintendo Wii is re-releasing Goldeneye 007. Looks to be updated as they have replaced Brosnan with Daniel Craig. Was the best multi-player 1st person shooter.

I've been playing StarTrek Online and it's ok but it's far from great. I think I might go back to some online role playing games; I used to play UltimaOnline; several years ago. I wonder what's available now in the realms of Massively Multiplayer games ...

Red Dead Redemption. It'll probably end in divorce.

I had to throw away my MW2 game. I was playing it online and my wife couldn't stand the yelling, swearing and mood swings. She made it clear it was her or the game. It was a major decision but the game can't cook.
