Lou Lamoriello does it again. The Devils are Cup contenders. Marty Brodeur is back.

Unless Boston one ups them and gets Pronger or even Kaberle, but yeah, it appears as if NJ is gonna take one hell of a run at the East.

Boston's problem with (a) Pronger or (b) Kaberle is (a) cap space, (b) Brian Burke.

Cap space is a terrific issue, but Pronger can be re-dealt in the summer. As for Burke, the Bruins apparently offered Colborne, their 1st this year something else that I can't remember.

    That's a pretty hefty bounty.

    Burkie drives a hard bargain...

In Anaheim's case Bob Murray won't want to take a big salary back, but he will want roster players. But I expect Chiarelli won't want to lose kids like Lucic...

Yeah, they'll never let Lucic or Wheeler go. That was what Chiarelli sighted as one of the biggest reasons for the instant turnaround to contenders. If I was making the deal it would be Bergeron for Pronger, but...I'm not.

Colborne and another 1st and Stuart (I think it was) seems steep.

If Chiarelli made that offer to Burke for Kaberle, it's steep but--in Chiarelli's mind--it probably gets the Bruins to the Finals.

Now that LouLam has Brodeur and added Havelid, Chiarelli would be prepared to up the ante.

Some very interesting 'chess moves' shaping up.

PS the Vegas line on the Devils for the Cup is 8-1 (same as Caps), Bruins 6-1.

    SJ 3-1, Wings 5-2.

Hawks are dark horses at 10-1.

Curious to see what the line is by Thursday morning.

Hmmm... I'd probably take the Devils at 8-1.. Thought they be higher than that, Can't see them getting any lower than that either... Hmmm... Smile

The Devils were at 12-1 last week, so they've already moved up. Those are pretty good odds right now.

so sick cause I would have put some money on the Devils when Brodeur
went down. I wish I was in Vegas when that happened.
When I was there a few weeks ago the Devils were 10-1. I still
favour them in the East but 10-1 just isn't enough to bet on
    anyone.

I did put a little down on the Panthers as they were 60-1. I
figure for a team that will likely make the playoffs, 60-1 is more than
    I could ask for.

    Go Panthers Go!! tongue

Yeah they look to be getting pretty strong with the return of Brodeur, they are going to be tough this year, and Parise is turning into such a good player, he could really have a great post season too...

I'd say, put your money on Marty and the Devs, my friend...Brodeur is the best playoff goalie there is. And the Devs are the only team apart from the Wings to win the Cup twice in the last ten years. They have a culture of champions.

Of course, if Sean Avery comes back to the Rangers and he and Marty meet again, who knows what might happen?

That's the fun of all this...so many variables...
