Seriously? If so did you actually eat it? Puking2

Not the cheese. It was especially disappointing because I was starving at the time.

Best Italian - La Strada (highly recommended although I haven't been in a couple of years - damn being the parent of young kids...)

Most over rated Italian - Fratelli's. I had two horrible experiences there. First one, I took another couple out for dinner. We had apps, meal, wine, dessert, and special coffees (4 bills total). When they brought the special coffees the bar tender salted the rim rather than sugar it, we pointed it out, they brought new ones and still charged us for them. Shoddy. I worked in the service industry through college, no chance would I have done that. Second, we had reservations and had to wait (I understand that) The hostess then had a couple of friends come in (unexpected I over heard) and got our table of four before us. Two strike system plus there are plenty of better eateries, like La Strada, Tratoria Italia...

Best Shwarma IMO has to be Marroush.... unless it has gone down hill

You've gotta be kidding me. If I wanted microwaved food, I'd walk down the street to the Loeb and pick up a Michelina's chicken and rice.

Shawarma Palace on Rideau St. is by far the best shawarma. By miles.

I agree. Only we don't have microwaves in Morrisburg, or streets, or "Loeb"ses, or electricity...

Bah! That's another thing that you reminded me of. It's extremely difficult - if it's possible at all - to find a poutine in Toronto that has good gravy and cheese curds. Mozarella is the standard here. I miss a good poutine and smoked meat sandwich.

There was this pizza place on Laurier in the Ottawa U area. I forget the name but they had pizza with an egg dough that was delicious. I've heard it's no longer there. Too bad...

For awesome fresh pasta (they make the pasta itself from scratch every day), the best place is Flying Piggy's on Bank St. Awesome awesome place to eat. They have steak, veal, chicken etc.. as well. It's mostly Italian cuisine.

Another wicked Italian eatery is Oggi's in Manotick, it used to be Fiori's on Gloucester St.

    Best pizza - Gabriel's.

Vietnamese - Pho Bamboo on Bank St. or there are also a bunch of places on Somerset...couldn't name them though.

Best Chinese - Ruby Inn on Bank St. AWESOME!!

Best Shawarma - Sandrella's and another one on Bank that I can't remember...Shawarma King or something like that...

Best cheap Sandwich - Chicken Parm at Boston Pizza

Best French Cuisine - Au Pied de Cochon in Hull.

Nothing beat eating poutine or breakfast at the Elgin St. Diner at 3am. Good times... Colonade also has good pizza too.

I can't remember the name but there was a Shawarma place in Hull that was awesome. I would always wake up the next day to find garlic sauce all over my pants. I would reak of stale booze and garlic. They doused it in garlic sauce and it would explode and leak out. Delicious. My girl friend at the time wasn't so big on it though.

Yeah - that's him. Right next to the Bull Dog - if it's there anymore... it was when I lived there back in the day.

The "Eclectic Noodle" was a favourite place of mine in Sandy Hill when I was there, but I think it has closed down. Great food, great service and quite intimate.

Oh yeah! It's too bad they moved away from St Joseph in Orleans, I'd always go there when we visit the in-laws. I don't even know where they are now... Sad

Montreal Road and Ogilvie I think. I agree it sucks that they moved. I haven't been since they moved either.

My suggestion is to try Shoeless Joes. I first tried them in Cornwall and they now have a restaurent near the Colesium Theatres.

Man, that guy was AWESOME! He had a whole song and dance he did for his customers, it was great! He has the best shawarma's for sure, I can't imagine he'd be gone from there. Maybe though..

Phu-Yen is a tiny Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Morgna's Grant. I love their Phu-Yen rolls. Every week I get three orders (2 each) take out and that's my supper. My wife gets either the spicy fish or the well-done beef noodle soup. I've gone to another Vietnamese restaurant (Pho 99) in Aylmer but I prefer the rolls at Phu Yen. Oh, and I always get them with peanut sauce (by default they come with a fish or seafood sauce).

Great Thai if you can stand the rude (legendary) hostess or owner (or whatever she is) -- SukoThai in Bell's Corners.

As for the commetns about Fratelli: First, it's Fratelli and not Fratelli's (Fratelli means "Brothers", it's not a last name). Second, which location did you try? I've never had any issues at the one in the Signature Centre (Kanata). I've always enjoyed the food.
