This story is true but ridiculous.... from today's paper...

Bus beheader appearing at review board today

The man who decapitated a fellow sleeping Greyhound bus passenger is appearing before a review board today that will decide his future.
Vince Li was found not criminally responsible for killing Tim McLean in front of horrified passengers near Portage La Prairie, Man., last July.
Now, itís up to a handful of members of Manitobaís Criminal Code review board to decide whether Li should continue to be institutionalized, given a conditional release or an absolute discharge.
Board members will hear from Liís psychiatrists and forensic mental health specialists.
The McLean family may get a chance to read a victim impact statement but only if given permission by the board.
The review board will make a ruling later in the week.
The board will make its decision public, but may not give detailed reasons for the ruling because of privacy concerns.

This makes me Freakin' sick....

I hope they rule that he stays in an institution as it sounds like he needs some serious help.

It should be decided like this:

If they vote to release, he gets billeted at one of their homes.

I can't believe they are even considering of letting this guy loose, that was one of the most brutal crimes I have ever heard of in my 29 years, those poor passengers that had to live thru that ordeal will be traumatized forever.

The worst part is that no one would know where this guy is because it would violate his privacy rights!!! lol

Diddle up.

What about the family being allowed an impact statement 'inly if allowed'. This makes me so mad...

Yeah, that is odd. Not sure why they need permission, but perhaps due to the nature of the crime, special rules come into play. Not sure.

That's a tremendously good idea. He can shack up with each of you for a month for the next 5 years. Sound good?

methinks that would sway the vote a bit against keeping him locked up, someone that is unstable enough to do what he did, he will do it again, and it will be totally random again.
