    2008-2009 NHL Top Scorers

Post by PKC on Sun Sep 07, 2008 2:30 pm

Always a fun topic to discuss: the top point-getters for each NHL season. The last few years have seen some guys establish themselves as regulars in the top 10 point scorers in the NHL. Who do you place in your top 10?

*Assume that all players play 82 games.

    My top 10

    1. Alexander Ovechkin - 66 G - 52 A - 118 PTS
    2. Sidney Crosby - 48 G - 68 A - 116 PTS
    3. Jason Spezza - 41 G - 72 A - 113 PTS
    4. Evgeni Malkin - 55 G - 58 A - 113 PTS
    5. Joe Thornton - 29 G - 77 A - 106 PTS
    6. Dany Heatley - 54 G - 49 A - 103 PTS
    7. Henrik Zetterberg - 44 G - 56 A - 100 PTS
    8. Jarome Iginla - 51 G - 49 A - 100 PTS
    9. Pavel Datsyuk - 30 G - 66 A - 96 PTS
    10. Vincent Lecavalier - 41 G - 52 A - 93 PTS

Since Hartsberg wants to break up the Cash line I don't think either Spezza or Heatley will increase their PPG from last year. Then there's that assumption about playing 82 games. Nevertheless, here are my fearless projections.

    1 Ovechkin 112
    2 Lecavalier 105
    3 Crosby 105
    4 Alfredsson 98
    5 Zetterberg 95
    6 Iginla 95
    7 Malkin 94
    8 Heatley 93
    9 Datsyuk 93
    10 Thornton 92

    9. Pavel Datsyuk - 30 G - 66 A - 96 PTS
    10. Vincent Lecavalier - 41 G - 52 A - 93 PTS

I think the top 3 will be more like
    Ovechkin
    Crosby
    Malkin

Nice list dude. The only thing I'd change is switch up Zetterberg and Alfie. Just a hunch. But otherwise, I like your list.
