    Waste. Of. Time.

That explains why I can get it at Blockbuster, pre-viewed on blu ray for $10.

Even Blu-ray can't fix that movie...

That does look very cool, but also looks like a "rip off" of The Cell with the dreaming thing...

Nah, it's quite a bit different from The Cell (The Cell was really an excuse to do some cool effects). Now, I admit, I have not seen it yet, but I read enough about it, and have not seen a reference to The Cell yet.

Just might be my first DiCaprio movie I own (and the first one I enjoyed him in since What's Eating Gilbert Grape).

Never watched that. Not really a DiCaprio fan, although I liked Catch me if you can.

He really deserved an award for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, though.

Not only does it live up to the hype, but it smashes it.

Might be the best movie I've ever seen in terms of overall quality of story, acting, direction, special effects and originality.

Is it sci-fi? The only movies I have a hope in hell of watching on the big screen are kids pics and sci fi. And I'm good with that, actually. Every once in a while an action movie with no sci fi comes up, though, that would be good on a big screen (Speed, Pirates).

It's mostly science fiction in terms of the themes and story. But it's also a drama, an action movie and a thriller.

The fact that Leo hasn't won an Oscar yet is almost silly.

Re: Basketball Diaries -- not much into drug films. I like sci fi with action. I enjoy comedies and the occasional drama (but has to be really good to put up with the , well, drama).

So "Inception" sounds like it's right up my alley. Might even be able to convince the wife to see it on the big screen.

I take it you were not a fan of Trainspotting then?

    Smile

    Loved that film.

Hmm, let's see. The movies I have *not* seen:
    - Basketball Diaries
    - Trainspotting
    - Fear and Loathing (although I took a course in CEGEP that covered Thompson and his "research" quite a bit)
    - Traffic
    - Requiem for a Dream (well, I *did* watch one scene)
    - many others

Of the few I'd seen (Rush, Doors) I didn't really enjoy them. I watch to be entertained, and watching depressing movies is just not for me (not to deny that any of those were not great films).

the scene wth the baby in trainspotting gave me a very uncomfortable feeling. The british accent was too strong. Still enjoyed it though.

Scotland is in Great Britain. Notice he didn't say "English accent".
