But it's wouldn't be as bad as Cloverfield or Blair Witch, right?

No, it's good. THe action scenes, compared to other action movies, are pretty smooth and are easy to follow. Not much handheld cameras.

I used the word epic to describe it over and over again. One of the best action movies I've ever seen in my life, and probably one of the most unique filming/story styles ever!

I wanted to walk out. I thought it was the worst movie ever. Complete cheese. The main character was annoying, the fight scenes were vanilla, the special effects were lousy, the dialogue BRUTAL (read: "GO ON WITHOUT ME!" "NO!!! I'LL COME BACK FOR YOU!!"), and it just goes on and on.

People were throwing popcorn and booing in the theatre I was in, but maybe we saw a different District 9 than you did.

PS, I know it's about apartheid. I could make a movie about Michael Phelps trying to finish a race, training really hard, having some struggles, and failing in the end. The movie would still suck balls, and saying it was an underlying message about Hitler wouldn't help.

PPS, everyone I know loved the movie, so don't take my word for it.

It sounds like you watched Inglorious Basterds. Now THAT was an epic movie.

Guy shot in balls from point blank? Check! Twice? Double check!

And no one can argue Tarantino doesn't have a unique filming and story style to his movies. I'm a huge fan.

Really? I, along with everyone in the theater, sincerely disliked that movie. It was too long, the scenes we're kind of put in there at some points for the sake of it, and it just wasn't very funny or very action movie-ish. I was extremely disappointed. And on the way out (the theater was packed) all I kept hearing was "it was OK", "it was too long", "I wouldn't see it again", that kind of stuff.

HAhaha I loved both movies even though I liked IB more, and I sincerely wanted more of it, didn't find it long at all.

I thought District 9 combined rare elements of Cameron, Kubrick and a new, contemporary vibe as well. It made me feel for the Prawns, it made me hate the humans - all in the course of an hour and fifty or whatever. The main guy was amazing, the directing was one of the best rookie efforts since Tarantino. I was blown across the room - SensGirl11 didn't love it though, she thought it was 'okay', so there you go... Ahhhhh!

    Glad you guys enjoyed it.

Anyone see Final Destination 3D yet? The movie itself wasn't anything special, but 3D? That was awesome!! I actually dodged to the side at one point when something was shooting out of the screen!!

And the Goods? Just when you think "this movie is so bad, I can't believe Will Ferrell ISN'T in it", he shows up and makes it even worse! Woot! Why Jeremy Piven? You're better than that.

It's a typical Final Destination movie. Someone figures it out early. No one believes them for a while. People start to die. Still no believers. Then some do. Then a lot of "oh my god!! You're next!!" then more people die in more seemingly impossible and gratuitously graphic ways. Then it's over.

But in 3D!!! Not a bad way to spend two hours says I.

District 9 was outstanding and The Goods was hilarious, man... I don't know what you were expecting going into those movies, but your expectations might be just a little too high. Shrug

I want to see this purely for the 3D factor. I know going in what to expect from this movie. Just as you said, "People start to die. Still no believers. Then some do." repeat.

    Should be fun!

I normally love that humour, and I'm a huge Jeremy Piven fan, but it just struck out for me. I liked the one guy, he was Champ Kind in anchorman (great movie!), he was funny. And Babs had her moments I guess. I was still very dissappointed though.

Yeah, I mean it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was pretty funny. As with D9 I went into it with zero expectations so maybe thats why I wasn't disappointed Shrug I guess I really didn't care what they did with it...
