Maybe Bobby Ryan should get some extra minutes too then.

I thought we were trading Bobby.

I just find it interesting that we should displace the better, more proven, Legwand by giving Zibanejad more minutes. Yet the idea of giving Bobby Ryan more minutes to potentially get more out of him is out of the question.

Aren't you against Ryan getting more minutes? If not, my bad.

no i was saying that 18 minutes is fine for him. I don't care if he gets more. He will by default anyway.

Legwand is more proven, true, but he is not the future. He is here to provide guidance and relate his experience to the likes of Zibanejad, Lazar and even Turris. But in terms of ice time it's Zibanejad, then Legwand, until/unless Zibanejad needs a break.

As for Ryan, he should absolutely be top-line, first PP unit and out there in the last minute down a goal. But beyond that, I don't see a need for trotting him out on the PK. The only exception to that would be if the Sens are spending too much time on the PK and Ryan needs to keep his legs fresh.

With Spezza gone he's surely going to move up the ice time ranking -- he was 3rd in TOI per game for both ES and PP, so he should be 2nd (at worst) now. That's good enough.

Aren't we living in the present though? I wouldn't be surprised if they went in the direction you're suggesting though. Wouldn't be the first bad decision the coach made.

It's not a bad decision at all. Legwand and Zibanejad should see similar minutes.

Zibanejad wasn't far off Legwand last year.

Zibanejad and Legwand are 2, 3 right now... how ever they mix it up is how they will mix it up. I think having a center like Legwand might be good with Stone and Chaisson, they need a vet. Then you flank Zibanejad with Michalek and Lazar, 2 guys who will be trusted (LAzar is a rookie but gets the game).

I would love if they put lazar on Zibanejad's wing. Michalek is a given unless he comes out useless again this year. I also wouldn't be opposed to a big dude or an aggressive dude like smith to give Zibanejad the extra room out there, but I doubt that happens.

Greening could happen too I guess, but no one sees him as a top 6 or even top 9 at this point I don't think.

Actually having said That I could see Mac putting Condra in the top 6, I really could. He loves him.

I'm actually anticipating that Legwand will start at the 2C position, with the implicit idea being "go grab it, Zibanejad." Make him earn it.

The one guy that I think will be waived by the end of camp in Condra... at this point he is just taking up a roster spot.

That would be foolish since someone will have to take Lazar's place after 9 games.

Are you saying someone will grab Condra off waivers? O'Brien was leading the forwards in goals when he was sent down and nobody claimed him.
