It's odd...if I were them I would be making sure my young guys got significant time - like Anisimov, Grachev etc. They NEED to be a team, not a bunch of signings.

They'll suck next year - no bones about it. Unless Lundqvist can save them that is.

I actually think they will be in the mix for the last spot in the East. I dunno why, but I like their forwards and obviously Lundqvist can steal games by himself. I have them finishing 8th right now, but haven't really made solid predictions yet.

One guy to keep an eye on is Mats Zuccarello Aasen. This guy has a lot of skill. Led the SEL in scoring and was a standout at the olympics.

Don't know why Kennedy signed there though. There's a logjam at forward now and he isn't guaranteed to get any sort of scoring role on this team.

i'm having lots of problems with my predictions this year... there's quite a few teams i think that could surprise while some might not fair as well as expected. i think this will be a close one between the 7th and the 11th in the east.

The East is very tough. To me the Top 5 is easy (in no order): Washington, Philly, Boston, NJ, and Pittsburgh. After that, everything is up in the air IMO. I think Ottawa, Buffalo, and NYR will round it out though.

Holy cow. Have you ever seen a more blatant attempt by one team to cover up its goaltending deficiencies?

Huh. Niemi in SJ, reportedly for $2 mil. I love how this comes, like, one week on the heels of SJ management saying "Niittymaki is our #1." Laugh1

Niittymaki was their #1 a week ago though. Now he's not (once confirmed by someone smarter than Paris Hilton or Nick Kypreos).

Yeah, well, SJ management laughed off the suggestion that they'd sign Niemi. Just two-faced, that's all I'm saying.

Other sources are now confirming the signing, too.

Regretfully, we can all look forward to hearing about Tomas Kaberle and John Mitchell being traded to San Jose for Ryan Clowe for the next month now.

According to a poster at Dobber's site, Price has apparently signed a 2-year deal, although I can't get his links to work.

I actually heard it. He also threatened a lawsuit if Savard's contract was overturned. General Hockey Talk - Injuries, signings, factoids + other news from around the league - Page 63 270956

You know why he said that? Because it's exactly what he will, and should, do.
