Breaking News: The Sens sign Corey Locke
This comes from my most reliable source, so I believe it.
It's a 2-way contract and the Sens have told Locke to be prepared to be up and down between the AHL and the NHL a lot.
Very, very nice signing.

Bingo needs a skilled center in a big, big way.

Reading up on him, he's an all-star centre in the AHL. Good depth move for Bingo with the loss of St. Pierre's offense.
EDIT: Spezz beat me to it.

Great move, I love it. He's a good guy too. He'll be staying with a friend of ours for a while in Ottawa (although...he won't be in Ottawa very often IMO).

Oh...even though I don't care how well the Baby Sens do, it is a good signing then.
Although, I will only believe it until when it is official

From talking with a few people who bordered Locke when he was with the 67s, it's official all right.

His OHL stats with the 67s:

omg he had 151 pts and 118 pts in back to back seasons?? what happened to him? why was he drafted at 113th overall??

Look at the numbers in the AHL. Hello playoffs IMO. And playoffs will be awesome for Wiercioch, Cowen (Spokane's season will be done I'm sure), Gryba, Greening etc. etc. etc.
Very, very nice. Wick, Butler, these guys will be fed passes left, right and center from Locke.

Hopefully Carkner will be the guy going to the AHL playoffs with Cowen in the NHL playoffs

Never. Carkner got his reward, which was a 1-way, 700K a year deal. At the worst for him he'll be a scratch in the playoffs, but I think he plays.

Locke is also a winner of the calder trophy with Hamilton in '06-'07, so he knows what it takes to win at the AHL level. Still, sad to see such a talent never make it to the NHL.
EDIT: meant Calder cup, but you get it.

Lee Versage must be crying tears of joy. If we need Locke in Ottawa I think fans should be prepared to see a team that is up and down between suck and crap a lot.

I know one of his buddies and when he said that I literally spit out the coffee I was drinking. He was grinning too. I told him the chances of Locke playing in the NHL were about 8% (no source) ad he basically agreed.
Still, Bingo just got a LOT better.

I find it hard to believe that nobody has given him a solid chance in the NHL yet. If it's because of his small size, that's odd because the NHL is now suited for smaller, skilled players like St. Louis and others like him.

Maybe being back home will make him want it more and he could succeed with the Sens in the future. i wouldn't count it out, he's only got 4 nhl games under his belt.

weird.. he gets almost a goal a game in the year he's drafted and he is still picked 4th round.. I know he's 5'09 and that drops him but still.. something weird there. he's got good AHL stats

I don't get that either. 151 points? CHL player of the year, but ends up in the 4th round? there's gotta be something we're missing. Size couldn't make him drop down that far. Hell even Kabanov dropped only to the 3rd round.

see i understand he's 5.9 but i think it's the 168 pounds that is an issue. but really is there no way a guy like that can make it in the NHL? looks(stats) like he knows how to score and be consistent in the AHL? he should get a chance, if shannon can get a chance so can locke. no?
