I've bought everything except the NHL Yearbook. I like the Forecaster a lot this year, very knowledgeable, I think we liked the Pooler's Guide, didn't like THN that much, but I still like the player projections there.

McKeen's comes out this week I think - LOVE it. Ahhhhh!

Anyone have suggestions? What do you read? What should I/we be reading?

Dobber Fantasy Guide and the Score Forecaster are the two I always get.

i do alot of my own predictions myself reading and compiling what i read all over the net. i've won my last pool doing it so i guess i'm not to bad at it(the others in my pool were using poolers guides.)

i make a list of the stats over the last 4 years, then i included age, past injuries and average ou their point total, then i factor in what team they are playing on and which teams is best known for their offence and compile that and make a final ranking.then... i cross my fingers.

i don't think i'll have time this year before the pool. last time it took me 2 weeks.

Dobber is what I started with a few years back. I liked the fact that you could download it in soft-copy format (let's face it, you're paying at least $5 extra for the hard-copy, more for the color glossy pages). Plus the softcopy edition allows him to make final edits and get you the latest/greatest information. The quality of his projections has gone downhill a bit, though. He truly used to be the best, but not any more (at least not the last two years).

But the best is still the UPP (Ultimate Pool Preview) put out by Marco "Dancin'Shoes" Normandin, over on HTR. I've been involved in a technical capacity for a few years (all the excel macros, like double-clicking on the column headers to sort) so I typically get an early copy.

That's too much work for me! Laugh1 I just like to pour over all the stats and writeups and projections - usually when I have some down time just for fun. I love to consume anything hockey - although the net is becoming a great resource as you say.

Dobbers I haven't ever purchased, so I'll do it this year I think. I hear he has nice prospect writeups etc.

I usually buy whatever I can get my hands on since I am usually so starved for anything hockey related. I have bought so far this year just the hockey news Fantasy pool guide, but haven't been to a magazine store in a while. I'm a big fan of The Score one, they always surprise me with their analysis, as in how good it is. I find they also offer the least redundancy.

I've never bought Dobber's. Is that magazine format or strictly online?

Thanks for the info. I love reading up on prospects, so I'll probably make the purchase this year.

yeah but is it ever rewarding to win with your own predictions. especially when its by a ridiculous margin. of course there was a little luck, like some of the guys picked guys that ended up with injuries.

i'm buying a mag this year, i've got to many other things to do. i noticed today that alot of mags are predictig spezza to have an 80+ season... i'm down with that struggle FingersCrossed

Yeah, I was really surprised at how good The Score one is. I picked it up this year not remembering if I liked it last year and I was most pleasantly surprised.

I just picked up McKeen's as per your praise of it, and it's a superb magazine as well. I really, really like it. I think next year I'll stick to just that one and the Forecaster. Kind of wish I had those two for the draft.

Yeah, I'm thinking that those two were the best. I was a little disappointed that McKeen's only had 4 prospects ranked per team (Cowen, 3.5 out of 5, Wiercioch 3 out of 5, Petersson 3 out of 5 and someone else). I was hoping they'd have more like 20 of them.

The big disappointments this year was The Sporting News was a joke, the Hockey News was shockingly weak.

The big surprises were The Score one and the Pooler's Guide. Both excellent.
