Guess how long Leclaire will take to recover from his injury.
Pascale Leclaire suffers a groin injury - Updated
I was at the game and it looked to me like the Canes were making an extra effort to run into and/or land on Leclaire and if getting him injured was the plan then it paid off. This is just such a ridiculous situation that I felt it deserved some levity in the form of a poll.
Have fun with it. Explain your choice in the most hilarious manner you can think of.

Here's my take. They were repairing the venting system at SBP last season so perhaps they turned the fan up too high and it blew Pascale over which in turn hurt his leg.

At the firesale prices good net minders were going for last summer, I'd say if he doesn't recover fast, he will end up like Comrie - from a multi million dollar man to a league minimum back up...

I am at a loss with this guy now... he seriously seems to attract injuries. The replay looks harmless... minor contact... and yet he's limping off the ice. I don't know... it's so frustrating to see this happen again and again to him. What is with this team and it's goalies? BAH!!!!!

If you look at the first hit on him it looks like his knee got twisted over, it looked pretty bad, I was surprised to see him stay in after it, and our players just stood around and watched the canes player exit our net...(still pissed over that)
The second hit looked innocent enough, but it was probably enough to finish the tear (that's my injury guess, a torn *CL)
I'm just not sure why the canes would take a run at Leclaire, I mean they've had to have looked at the same numbers we did yesterday and realized they'd have a better shot at winning against Leclaire rather than Elliot...

To be honest it probably wasn't a case of running the goalie to injure him so much as it's a style of play now. Crash the net and make a feeble attempt to get out of the way of the goalie.
The refs let players drive right into the goalie now so why wouldn't you take advantage of that as a player and as a coach right? Especially with teams that have limited talent.

here are the hits, the first one is at the tail end of the video... I just noticed it was Karlsson that let skinner take a long fall into Leclaire. After the play Karlsson looked as though he went up to Skinner and said, "hey buddy, you wanna go grab some drinks after tonight?"

A twist in the wrong direction can do quite a bit of damage to one of the ligaments... hopefully it's not torn or partially torn... we'll have to see.

Honestly, at some point you just have to give up on the guy. He has become a running joke for being fragile. At some point the evidence becomes overwhelming-he can not stay healthy. It is time to waive him and bring up Lehrner. That frees up cash to get an impaact player at the deadline.

You don't waive him, I doubt Melnyk wants to pay for another $3M AHL player.
I was all behind Leclaire since we got him, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt when it came to durability. I felt this year was going to be different and his play was the best we have had in years, and now that he is injured again, I have to believe that there is absolutely no way we can even entertain resigning him.

resign him???? NO WAY
You go with Elliott and Lehrner
Take his money and Kovalevs and you have almost 9 million to spend on OFFENCE
how about adding Brooks Laich AND Eric Cole with that money

111519, do you moonlight as the Eric Cole/Andrew Ladd guy on chirp? If so, the man crush is getting pretty old. Is Cole even relevant anymore? How old is this guy?

I never said the Sens should re-sign him, but I would have considered it before the latest injury. Now it is obvious that even at league minimum it's not worthwhile.
I said the Sens should sign Vokoun for a while now.
Vokoun @ $4-5M/year on 2-3 years years is good, then you have Lehner slowly develop and by the 3rd year is splitting starts with Vokoun.
After this year we will have ~+$8M in space with Kovalev and Leclaire gone.

What Brennan said is dead on, he's no number one because he's always injured. You can't depend on him - which isn't really his fault, but he'll never again be a number one. He can be a back-up or part of a tandem, but not a number one.
It's close to being a lost cause actually.

if we have a ton of money to throw as someone here's an idea: Brad richards!!! spetza and richards as a 1a 1b centers? that would be sick sick sick!!!
i'd rather throw the remaining 2-3 mill or so at a goaltender that's is good but maybe not spectacular till lehner is ready.
nut i'm still hoping
leclaire can be our man this season. if something popped send him to the chiro or osteopath and get him ready for in a week.
see if we invested our money in cyborg technology instead of going to war in afganistan leclaire would have had bionic legs 2 summers ago...

Joe Thornton, Brad Richards, Simon Gagne, David Backes, Alexander Semin, Brooks Laich, Thomas Vokoun, Jimmy Howard
Realistically the only guys to hit the market will be Richards and Gagne so unless we can snag one of them (unlikely but Gagne would be awesome) then I think we give the spots to guys like Butler/Wick/Hoffman, Gryba/Cowen, and then go out and trade for a goalie (Quick?) if we don't get Vokoun.
It will be tempting to go crazy with $10 million in cap space, but we should really temper out spending if all we're gonna get is players past their prime or more 2nd/3rd line tweeners.

we'd have the cap space, we're not far from being contenders, we're a canadian market and, well, he's from PEI, which really isn't that far from ottawa
.toronto could also make a serious pitch. i think we stand a chance.

Would love to have him, but doubt he'd "want" to come here unless it was insane money in a non-cap era. Toronto will certainly be very interested and pressing hard. Often, being in a Canadian market doesn't help. Holik made that exact comment on Hockeycentral at Noon today. Toronto made him a huge offer before he signed with the Rangers. He said he was not ready to play in a Canadian city yet.
Not sure I'd say we're "not far from contenders"... I think we have a ways to go.

This guy's just a number to me now - 3.8 million - and it represents someone good next summer. I'm not sure if it'll be a sniper or a goalie or a bruising D-man (who knows?), but I'm looking at Leclaire as a bank holding that money for us.
Same applies for Kovalev, although I don't think he's as useless.

It was suggested by Amnesia that we get the members' opinions here on the 3 stars every game and tabulate them at the end of the year.
http://www.gmhockey.com/ottawa-senators-f31/vote-for-your-own-3-star-selections-t4960.htm#200120
So I did the thread that I'll tabulate everything in - the locked thread and the thread for people to vote in.
I'm expecting 6 votes to be honest, but hey, it's not a lot of work.
