    UFC and WEC merge

Post by PKC on Thu Oct 28, 2010 3:06 pm

Huge news for MMA fans as the UFC and the WEC have merged their promotions together. While the UFC's parent company - Zuffa - technically owned both, they have been long promoted as separate companies and feature no cross advertising between the two.

The merger will add two new weight classes (bantamweight and featherweight) and should almost guarantee the UFC reaches a network TV deal in the near future.

Of the more prominent names who will be fighting under the UFC banner now are Jose Aldo (featherweight champion and ranked #3 on almost every pound for pound ranking list), Dominick Cruz (bantamweight champion) and Urijah Faber.
