Columbus wanted nothing to do with him clearly, doesn't mean he is a lost cause.

With his pedigree, I say put him with Spezza or Alfie (or both) for 10-20 games and see what you get. Filatov himself must know that this trade means that his own perceived value is falling, and that his chances of sticking in the NHL are shrinking.

He will either sink or swim, and that first month or two is going to be key.

I keep reading about some agreement he got with the KHL but then I recall him and his agent saying he wants to play in NA.

Will he even come to training camp ?

The Sens can offer him a chance to play on the top 2 lines with a ton of support, for sure he is coming back.

There is just no chance he doesn't give it a shot in Ottawa.

This is going to be such an exciting young team to follow this year. It will be the first time in a long time when we might actually have a few young players break out and redefine this team -- Butler, Filatov, Cowen/Rundblad, maybe Foligno, Regin.

What a great feeling today.

Ottawa has a ton of character with guys like Alfi, Phillips, Greening, Smith, they will keep the kid in check and show him what he needs to do. No one in Columbus has any idea what to do.

As far as I can tell, he split last season between the NHL and the AHL. I don't think he has any connection with the KHL (yet).

EDIT: he did play some KHL games in 2009-10, but not last year.

EDM got him with the 62nd.

Jensen still appears to be available, tho' -- and we're at pick 82 or so. Oops, he went way back at 29th. Too many beers last night, forgot about that.

Yeah... Trust our scouts, not our bloggers.

Anyway, Noeson comparisons range from Perry to Lapierre. By all accounts, tho', is a tough MF to play against.

I hate the people bashing Noesen just because they've never heard of them. Murray and co. liked him alot, and figured he wouldn't be around for their 2nd. If you like a guy, don't wait around, plain and simple. I think Murray has proven in the past to trust his sleeper picks like Noesen.

Which Jensen? Nicklas Jensen went to Vancouver in the first round.

why was there no one selected with the 69th pick? It couldn't have been more obscene than what happened with the 66th...

I think quite a few people (and writers) will shut their mouth after what people said about drafting Karlsson. If you don't understand BM's pick you quietly step back and wait it out. If not you'll end up looking like a moron down the road.

On that note BM has turned the draft weekend into X-mass
