I must admit, I have given it almost no thought. I've been watching Lost with the boys, and Torchwood with the wife, and recently started Doctor Who reruns (with both) so my sci fi cravings have been kept at bay. I recently looked at my Scheduled Recordings list on the PVR and realized that this is the week things get going (sure, a couple of shows premiered early but that is usually a sign of weakness -- get them on before they face competition). I also realized that I've got nothing but "returning" shows, and since I lost a few last year (V, Smallville and another one I just can't seem to remember) I've got some time slots to fill. And I think Fringe is the only sci fi show I'm watching, which is a big no-no for me. Must. Have. More. Sci Fi.

Two of the more highly anticipated sci fi shows coming are Person of Interest and Terra Nova.

Person of Interest stars Michael Emmerson (Ben Linus of Lost fame) as a billionnaire with pre-cog-like tech that allows him to predict crime. James Caviezel is an ex (presumed dead) CIA guy on his payroll. Only drawback (for me) is it's on CBS. I don't think I've watched a CBS show in a decade (except for some Bones reruns in the summer when nothing else is on).

Terra Nova boasts Steven Spielberg as one of the producers. It's set in the future and goes back to the past. The planet is in trouble and they go back 85 million years to save it. Bleak future and prehistoric past -- Blade Runner and Jurassic Park. I'm hooked. There's more, but I'll let you do your own digging.

Comedy-wise I think I'm still good with Parks & Rec, Community and The Office. We don't really watch many dramas (other than sci fi). And, of course, there's always DWTS to screw things (I'm really starting to hate this show but the wife still wants to watch it; maybe if "Chaz" sticks around for more than a couple of weeks she'll change her mind).

OK, over to you.

Two and a Half Men season premiere tonight - Ashton Kutcher in, Charlie Sheen out.

Only commonality I see is Office, and 30 Rock hopefully premiering soon.

Sons of Anarchy is going into episode 3 this week. Dexter will be premiering soon. And around Halloween we will get Walking Dead.

If you like The Office and 30 Rocks then Parks & Rec is a must. It's what these two shows used to be. I can't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd season that 30 Rock hit it out of the park. Last season was like that for P&R. Clicked on all cylinders, pretty much every episode was great, no duds in the bunch. I *would* catch up to the earlier stuff, even if only by reading the episode synopsis for the episodes on TV.com.

Grissom is a name from CSI, isn't it? Is he guesting or joining the cast or something? Or am I completely off? (Don't watch CSI.)

Definitely not "The New Girl" or that one with the flight attendants.

Oh, of course. A staple for us. Even if I have to endure my wife saying "I want her boobs" every freaking week. Enough, already.

He's taking over for Lawrence Fishburne... who took over when the "Gil Grissom" character left... that series is going down hill fast...

I never watched it, so it was never uphill for me. Slick editing. Catchy music (at least the opening credits). Shock-value forensic pathology stuff. But at the heart of it it's still a procedural where things (mostly) have a start, middle and ending all wrapped up in 42 minutes plus commercials. I used to watch the original L&O with almost religious zeal, but I much prefer "mythology" shows now. About the only thing I watch now that kind-of qualifies as a procedural is Castle. And it's got the mother's murder mystery and coverup as the overreaching show arc (plus I'm just a Browncoat at heart and will watch anything with a Firefly connection).

I've tried to give P&R a go, I may give it another try if you think it is that good.

But 30 Rock is hands down my favourite show. For the past 3 years or so I have been watching it every night, sometimes 2 episodes/night on my iPod while I fall asleep. I only have S1-S3 on there, but I have seen them I'd say 18 times through Ahhhhh!

True. Even funnier is that the character on the show's name is Danny (well it was Jack but they renamed him Danny since they already had a Jack), and my friend who wrote the Sens "Be Red" theme is named Dan. Ahhhhh!

Now that Entourage is done the only shows I follow closely are Dexter and Community. I think they are both starting up this week, so that'll be exciting.
