A lot like the FIlatov situation but not nearly the same questions surround his game. I don't think he's worth too much more obviously, but what do I know. Regin might be the piece going back the other way with a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I think Maloney knows that Turris has a good chance he can reach his potential and that's why he is not trading him. He's not going to get full value and he'll be trading away a potential franchise center.

We do have an advantage over Calgary in that we're in the East but the Flames are supposedly offering Rene Bourque which is better than anything we got. Can't imagine anyone wanting Regin with his bum shoulder.

Really depends on whether Maloney decides to give in and trade Turris though, so far he's not even remotely open to the idea.

Goldman's tweets(love him or hate him) seem to indicate the same thing, he's not totally focused on what's going on out there. He took personal leave so I hope whatever happened in Colorado isnt happening here, although he had a baby this summer so that might explain it (I had a baby a few months ago so I know what that's like). I thought Lehner was better in TO.

I think they should still go with Anderson, I think Lehner needs a full year as a starter in the AHL. Call him up for a few games here and there maybe.

If anything Anderson just needs some time and patience. He'll be fine, we need him, but he'll be fine. Again, this is definitely a guy I've watched long enough to feel pretty confident in saying that. The best thing we can say as Sens fans is: we were winning when he was average, what will we do when he reclaims the real Anderson form?

I think I would have preferred a definitive loss. This was kind of disappointing. When you manage 3 goals against Boston despite having your 1st line shutdown that should at least get you a point in the standings.

Oh well. Sucks to be the Habs now because they'll get massa - creed.

Two teams among the weakest in the centre position makes sense.

So did we get outplayed tonight ? Were we that bad ? Were the B's that good ?

This team seems to fold like a cheap lawn chair against a heavy forecheck.

SpezDispenser wrote:Our 2nd rounder plus Wiercioch, or do they even care. Foligno +? Risky business either way IMO, but Murray and Mac would know, especially Mac having seen him in Detroit.

I don't think they need D, they have Yandle + OEL and others.

Probably a centre for sure and/or forwards.

I'm sure Murray has kicked tires but Maloney doesn't want to deal him.

Don't forget Turris has already missed a month + training camp, they'd probably send him on a conditioning stint

Big Ev wrote:Do it now. Turris has serious potential. He can play, he's shown it.

He has already proven he isn't a bust. Just needs time and ice time.

He hasn't proven a lot, Regin is probably more on an NHL player than he is.

I'm weary of Turris, saying he's the answer at centre is no different than thinking Filatov is the top-6 forward we need.

1.The Bs played like Champs and we played a less than stellar game = we were dead in the 2nd period IMO.

2.The word around the McKenzie and co. campfire is that Maloney will sign Turris, then contemplate moving him, so the onus will soon be on Turris to sign, then I think they hint that he'll be moved in the week or so after that - and seemingly before Dec. 1 (or T-Day).

What's the point of a sign and trade though ? There is several teams interested in his rights. Trade his right and let the other team negotiate with him.

He doesn't want to sign anyway, and if they sign him and he refuses to report can't they suspend him ?

Well, therein lies the conundrum. Maloney has been adamant he will not trade hum, and clearly Turris has no desire to play in Phoenix, so it appears he may not play at all this season. If he doesn't get a deal done one way or another by December deadline, does he (can he) play overseas at all?

If Ottawa wants him, they should sign him now. If all they have to give up is a 2nd round pick, they can offer the range of: $1,567,043 — $3,134,088: Second-round pick

So an offer for $3M is only a 2nd round pick, and Phoenix may match, but that's a lot of $$$ to pay a guy that doesn't want to be there, and since they don't have an owner (the NHL owns them) do they have the right to spend their money that way?

Ottawa has the cap space, the need, so why not?

It's very easy to say "Hey, Anderson gave up 5 goals, he must've played bad." If Matrix doesn't stand on his head in the 2nd period last night, we're coming out of that period down a lot more than one goal. We gave up 41 shots last night, including 17 in the first and 16 in the second. Our defense needs to be better, but it might be a slow road to improvement.

Getting Rundblad out (to the AHL), and inserting Carkner might be a good start, actually.

That's debatable for sure. If Anderson doesn't like being pushed then he's in trouble after this year because Lehner is going to be on the team next year, you can write that in stone.

Either way, Anderson may or may not be a better goaltender right now but who gives them the best shot at winning? We'll see Friday night, Anderson will obviously start but if he lets in another 4 or 5 goals, whether he makes 100 saves or not, Lehner will get that 2nd game. If Lehner goes out and plays well that game, Anderson may have lost his job.

Friday is a huge game for Anderson. He needs to get right back on track along with the team. Anything less than a steller performance from Anderson will be disappointing.

Because if he doesn't sign by Dec.1, he can't play in the NHL this year - and the Yotes want to keep their options open. If the kid doesn't sign, the kid sits - and Maloney wants him to sign the qualifying offer I would imagine so his trade value increases even more.

I could see Murray not wanting to send an offer sheet, but might if Maloney doesn't relinquish hold on him. 3.1 X 3 kind of thing, but then Maloney might match for this year and trade him in the summer.

But he still has to pay him, and it's not his money. Sneaky

If he doesn't play this year, his development is ruined, and he will be out of shape. Then you have a much harder time trading him.

Unfortunately for Phoenix they should cut and run. I don't like what Turris is doing, nor what Erixon did, or Lindros, or Berard, or Gleason, or Jack Johnson, etc. All similar events.

Players refusing to play for the team after drafted by them, or refusing to re-sign after only 3 years.

And a team could threaten Phoenix ala Burke... give them a choice and say we want him so you can trade him for X or we will sign him for Y and you will get Z.

Ironically, while he stopped all but two of the 33 shots in the first two periods, he let in two of 7 in the third.

If they were down 4-2 after 2 periods and lost nobody would be saying he needs to be better. Thing is, he kept them in the game early, but collapsed in a 32 second span *after* they tied it up. Those kinds of losses could be damaging because regardless of how he played through 40, it looks like he let them down. IOW, it's true that they shouldn't have been in the game, only down by 1 going into the third, but the fact is that they *were* only down by 1, and they scored early enough to tie it up. Losing like that is worse than if Anderson had given up 4-5 goals on 33 shots through 40.

I hate to do it, but Lehner didn't exactly have a fantastic outing, yet with the chips down he made that humongous save late in the third.

Anyway, I really don't want to go too far down that path. Anderson may have cost us a top-3 pick last year but he's still our #1.

Matrix is the man, and that's all there is to it. He has a special place in my heart forever, just for that 1-0 shutout vs the Leafs last year.
