BlackBerry PlayBook OS v2.0 has been released today. Get your upgrade on! It's a whole new OS.

Also, a new BlackBerry Bridge App for your phone has been released to work with it.

I (finally) heard why the PlayBook hasn't been well-received when it was launched. Apparently, it's because it's more of a consumer device than it is a business device. In other words, there's really nothing wrong with that machine and anyone who scored a deal on it are lucky sonofaguns.

The launch did not go well at all. Delay after delay and it was launched with some pretty key features missing and very little app support. It felt very rushed to market. It really should have launched with the OS that came out today. But waiting that long would have been far worse for RIM.

The PlayBook is a great tablet, as is the iPad. It all depends on what your needs/preferences are for functionality.

More apps are getting added to blackberry app world because they've recently reached out to alot to developers and made existing coding very easy to transfer over to QNX. It is extremely late, but better late than never. In fact it works out great for those who bought the tablet on a huge discount.

Headed in the right direction (I hope!)

I'm getting a BB 9900 soon (for work). What apps should I be getting?

Does your work's BES policy allow you to install apps via App World? Check what you can and can't do first. A lot of companies lock down corporate BlackBerry's. For example, my work BB does not do BBM, SMS, MMS, access to App World, Tethering, Wi-Fi.

If I want to install an app on it, it has to be via OTA.

No WiFi? Wow. I'd max out the 1GB data plan just receiving work e-mail. We already have WiFi for laptop access, so it makes sense to have WiFi access enabled for the BBs. So I'll get to use the data plan strictly for personal stuff Smile

We use IM a lot so I assume I'll have BBM. I don't text and don't intend to start, so I didn't ask for it. No idea about tethering or access to App World.

I guess I'll find out once I get it. Order was submitted to vendor on Thursday. I was kind of hoping I'd get it today. I could get a $20 USB thumb drive from Dell.ca faster.

The Android apps will be added to App World once they are ported but I think there are about 65-75K apps now.

Heh. That would be a ridiculous amount of email. Like, over 10,000 per day. Yes, per day.

Yes. And there are size limits to what you can send to your device.
