Vermette is a 3rd line center on an average team, that's it. Phx got a player they can use but he's a player that everyone knows what to expect from. A 20/40 guy that can kill penalties, tons of those in the NHL.
Columbus can fill the void left by literally any player in their organization or w/e else at the current time because they won't be getting anything other than the 1st overall pick.
As for Nash, Columbus shouldn't be trading him unless they get exactly what they feel he's worth. Carter, if they can get rid of him they should do it, doesn't matter what they return is. That's a player they should just admit they made a mistake with and move forward, it's impossible to save face anyways.
If they can unload Mason to a sucker then they should do it.

He has more value than a 2nd and a 4th IMO. If guys like Moore are getting 2nds, Vermette should have gotten a 1st +. Washington are out of their minds for not acquiring this guy. Crazy.

Vermette is on a 4 million dollar deal, not a lot of teams want to pay that for a 3rd line player.
As for Washington, they need to get rid of a few players before they even think about adding. There is a mini-blowup coming there and it will start with Semin. Best thing Washington can do is just play out the string and hope for the best and expect the worst. This year is close to a write off for them.

The point's been made here - and I agree with it - that Vermette can be a great 3rd line C or a defensively sound 2nd line C - or a fill in for when Backstrom's hurt being the defensive conscience for AO. He's also a top FO guy and a really solid PKer - things that Washington needs to improve on. Also takes some pressure off Johansson (sp?) and allows his to develop without the intense pressure.
Washington needs to get rid of Semin and take a direction with their team and for the cost that Vermette was to Phoenix, I think that would have been really worth a try.

Looks like legitimate sources are now saying that Ruutu re-signs.
Bob McKenzie says 4 year deal around 4 schmill per season.

Trading Kuba would be the dumbest move you could possibly make. If anything the guy should be resgined. Such a valauable and under-appreciated piece in Ottawa.

Penner is going to be a salary dump if he is moved, he actually lowers the value of LAs side of any deal.

So, our D next year:
Kuba / Karlsson
Suter / Cowen
Phillips / Gonchar
Any questions?

There is still a lot of hate out there for Kuba, but I think people fail to see how much we suck when he's not in the lineup. He does bring stability and depth and unless we have someone that can replace him, we should look at resigning him.

Haha...I think Penner would be good here, but I have nothing to back that up. The key to this deal for me is getting Forbort for Foligno, not sure why I added a 2nd rounder in there.

I equate Penner to a 3rdround pick, so I overplayed for Forbort in that fantasy proposal I think.
