Gabriel's would have been $37.57.

The problem with Ottawa pizza is that mostly all of them are Lebanese. I think that's just wrong. It's pizza, not shawarma.

Add in two dipping sauces. And did you add taxes?

The kids' favorite is Pizza Pizza, but I guess they're partial to cardboard. I like Pizza Hut but sometimes fine their crust a bit oily. I like lots of cheese so that's why I enjoy Willy's (which is not to be confused with Wiley's). I used to like Milano's but that was before we had kids and our selection was narrowed down to cheese or pepperoni (they are only now starting to branch out to the point where I can get a combination and and won't be the only one eating it).

Shabbs, what do you know about Gabriel's? They've expanded and not every location is the same. Kids were fed it at school (thursday = pizza days) for a few years and grew to dislike it. I was never a big fan, to tell you the truth.

Place Teveres in Dorval (suburb of Montreal) always brings back fond memories. Luna's Pizza (also in Dorval) was a small one not far from our second apartment. Best ever "combination" (we called it All Dressed in Montreal) I ever tasted in my life.

I'm getting really hungry.

Yeah I added tax.

But now with two dips:

Two pizzas: $36.45

Two dips: $1.70

Tax: $4.97

Total: $43.12

that's without any special or whatnot, according to their online menu: http://willyspizza.ca/menus/pizza-wings/

I remember they have ripped my family off before when ordering, though. Sometimes overcharge. Delivery is worse, because they charge you an extra fee...then you don't know what to tip.

Yeah, their math is not making sense... something is up there... does the receipt break it down or is it only one total?

Call the BBB on them.

If not Gabriel's, I hear Milano's is also good.

I'm also fine with Pizza Pizza for an economical pizza.

Haven't had Pizza Hut in a while, but they have some promotions running.

Also, Costco pizza (from the restaurant) is really good too. Get the Meat Lovers (it's got a maple bacon/sausage on it). ~$15 for a huge pizza.

Come to Barrhaven and get some San Marino's. It's the best I've had anywhere.

Where is that?

Edit: Cedarview and Jockvale - not too far from me at all.

I just checked the bill and it wasn't a plain but 1/2 peperoni. So that's a combination ($20.50) and a 1-topping ($18.95 plus two dipping sauces ($1.70) for a total of $41.15. However the bill has the subtotal as $40.90 (how nice of them).

They don't have the twin specials on the website.

I guess the point is you overpaid - whether because of an error or just plain unethical practices, or just simply they are overpriced to begin with.

Stop going there. Vote with your dollar. Convenience is not reason to support a business who gouges customers like that. For $46, I better be getting a happy ending with my two large pizzas. Seriously.

As far as your comment about the girl "correcting" the total then later noticing that the amount charged to your card was higher, well, that's on you for not verifying the amount before putting your PIN in and paying for the order.

I once went to Tim's at the drive-thru and the order was $10-something. The girl mistakenly (I would imagine) added a zero and so the machine was ready to charge me $100+ for my order. Moral of the story...check to make sure you are paying what you should.

FYP.

Costco is pretty tight though.

Are you guys talking about the already cooked pizza at Costco or the ready-to-cook one? I get a slice of the already-cooked once in a while and, while I really enjoyed it when the Costco in Kanata first opened (probably getting close to 10 years), I've been less than enthusiastic about it, lately. The $1.99 hot dog + drink is a deal that cannot be beat. Huge hot-dog, all-beef, you can pile all sorts of toppings on it (sauerkraut, onions, hot-peppers) that makes it almost like a full meal.

I meant the one that they sell at the restaurant. You can order a whole pizza, takes about 15mins.

Oh and the hotdog + pop is a steal - and it is $1.49 now.

Home made pizza is even cheaper, better for you and far tastier. If you have a bread maker it's a very easy meal to make.

I don't think you can beat a $7.99 large pepperoni walk-in. Unless you're buying things on sale there is no way to come even close. Grated cheese -- enough for a large, is around $7 regularly priced, and that's probably just enough to make it like the Pizza Pizz walk-in special. If you want more cheese it will be more. I usually buy it when it's reduced to $3.99 (that's either 320 or 340 grams). And there's little difference between grated and ungrated (unless you buy the brick cheese, which I find less than ideal for pizza). Anyhow, the 340g package is probably just barely enough for a large. Add in a dollar for the sauce and another for the pepperoni and you're already at $6. Making the crust yourself is time consuming; I suppose you can prepare ahead and freeze, but I think I'd just as well buy it at this point, which is probably another $2, maybe more. The part that really gets me then is the rolling out of the crust.

The time it takes is really my biggest hurdle. Saturday or Sunday afternoon, provided there are no birthday parties or hockey games/practices or anything like that. I know the kids would enjoy making their own, too. Hmm, maybe I should put that on the menu once in a while.

It can definitely be a fun family experience. The biggest benefit is you know exactly what is going into the dough and what is in the toppings.

I know when I was a kid my mom would give us each our own personal size pizza dough to top as we wanted. We'd get to make our own pizza which I'm sure is more time consuming and messy but it's about creating fun memories. It's something I'll definitely do with my kids when they're old enough.

When doing pizza at home, we use those pre-made mini pizza shells from the bakery and add on all our own sauce, cheese and toppings.. super quick in the oven and you can use all fresh toppings.
