Players will start a new vote on DOI tonight. 48-hour window to complete.

General consensus is that this will go on for another week, right up to the deadline.

    So sit back and relax.

Some in there I haven't even seen yet. The Godfather was really nice; loved the Bobby Orr flying goal.

Seems the HRR shenanigans by the NHL has pissed off the players...

    Via Lebrun:

"Players on conference call were angry about the HRR dust-up with the league. Foul mood right now on players' side"

    https://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/status/286997207004114944

    Via Aaron Portzline:

"Players have been asked to limit public comments, but one NHLer said via text I could go w this: "The league is back to their old tricks.""

So going from $70.2M to $60M. Heh. Those teams that spent large are going to be in trouble.

The difference is 5M. How about they split it in the middle -- or do it at 63M? The issue is the floor. If the Cap ceiling is 65M then the floor is 49M.. which the NHL thinks is too high. Why don't they have a $20M or $25M flat difference between the high and the low? It's always been the floor causing the problems... not the high.

There has also been reports (Eklund again) that the NHL may consider a 30% salary variance within the contracts. Now that's more than the NHLPA requested... so what does the NHL want back? At least... if that is indeed the truth...

    Just saw this:
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/globe-on-hockey/why-the-nhls-push-for-a-variance-limit-matters/article6928533/

According to that, the 30% comes with a 60% minimum -- meaning the lowest the salary can get to is 60% of the first year. So you can go 30% in the first year, but then left with only 10% for the remainder. No chance for a back-dive.

What "HRR dust-up" is he talking about?

They changed the language on stuff they agreed to. They ended up removing it but it created a lot of grief.

The owners greatly reduced penalties for "hiding HRR" in the last documents they sent to the NHLPA as part of their proposal.

NHLPA says they tried to slip this one by the players, NHL says they had this document for a week and the changes were highlighted.

Classic case of they say/they say.

Depends on your definition of "imminent".

Apparently some GMs would welcome the chance to dismantle their teams due to "regretful" contracts...

    http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl-lockout/2013/01/04/report_gary_bettman_nhl_gms_welcome_dismantling_teams/

That seems to be what has pissed off the players.

    Wonder who those GMs are?
