The Name Dropper doesn't think he will fetch all that much on the open market. I think he will get some stupid offers.

I heard that too, but it's UFA time and I can easily see him getting a $4M per contract maybe over 3 years.

Hear how he was downplaying Bière's value as a player? Calling him a "specialist." If he signs with the Wings he'll be the MVP of the free agent market.

Or if the penguins sign him, he will be the steal of the UFA litter.

Actually, Pittsburgh makes a lot of sense as a destination for Briere for multiple reasons...proximity to his current home, playing with Crysby or Malkin, not too expensive, etc.

It does make sense actually.

Pens cant afford to be offering long term deals to players while Letang still remains unsigned to an extension.  On the surface, yah, it makes sense but they have others they need to get signed like Kunitz, Depuis, and Iginla.  Until those are sorted out, no way does Pitt make a move to bring in ANOTHER top 6 forward.

I'd be stunned if they re-sign Iginla and doesn't Kunitz have another year?

I wonder if he is still bitter about 1999. They might have a few pictures of the Cup winning goal around the arena and team offices.

They still need to resign Dupuis or Kunitz... both who have proven to have chemistry with Crosby. They also need some defense at some point as well, people forget they have close to nothing after Letang.

The Name Dropper begs to differ. "Regular fans" just don't know it. He rattled off some impressive names ready to take the 'Tangers spot straightaway!!! Bobby Bortuzzo, Olli Maatta, Derrick Pouliot...

They can let Dupuis go, replace him from within, keep Kunitz at 3.75 and negotiate a slight increase for him to 4.5. I think that's the least of their worries. The fact that Letang, Orpik and Niskanen - 3 very important D-men for them are all entering their final year = some big issues IMO.

How Torts is a good fit in Vancouver is a mystery to me, but the Canucks management must know something I don't.

Oh boy, they don't have the players to play a Torts system. This should be very interesting.

Agreed. He'll adapt to what he thinks he has to work with.
