Karlsson isn't the perfect player. The jury's still out on whether he is a guy who can win you a Cup with his reckless play.

Karlsson is 23, lol, there is no jury. You are right when you say things can change over night but we all know that things in Ottawa change very slowly.

Fact: Tampa got rid of the anchor named Lecailvier. Fact: Ottawa doesn't have the balls to do the same with Spezza.

Things can absolutely change but the team actually has to man up and make some tough decisions which the Sens don't do very well. We'll see what the roster looks like to start the year next year but you can all but guarantee if #19 is the captain next year then it will be much of the same.

You put a team system together where everyone can play 200 feet and play for each other then the Sens will very much be in the fight for the division and conference.

That's a good point even though Lecvalier's contract sucked. They got rid of their captain, once #1 C, once PPG player.

Sure did, tough choices, great results. Maybe they don't let him go with a better contract but the results speak for themselves.

Tampa is a team that didn't make the playoffs for a couple seasons, replaced their coach not too long ago and were searching for a number one goalie. Needless to say they needed changes. Don't get why murray needs to have the balls to get rid of spezza right now, his contract has only one more season left and isn't nearly weighing down the sens like lecavalier was with tampa.

I'd argue the bigger change was getting rid of conacher and gaining a bonafide goalie....

And Hedman and Gudas playing rock solid. D and G is more important to them then their forward changes.

Ottawa has goaltenders that are good enough when the team defense is clicking. Ottawa has a better group of D than Tampa. What Ottawa doesn't have is 12 forwards committed or capable of playing the way the coach wants them to.

Spezza's contract isn't weighing down the Sens there is no question and perhaps the best thing to do is wait it out, let him take the bullets that are going to fly his way if the team misses the playoffs, and move on when his deal is done. Maybe that is the right move.

As for Karlsson who is showing the world what he's about... he needs the right partner and right supporting cast. That's a player who will carry a team but he needs help.

Oh Tampa will fizzle, especially Bishop. We already know how to score on him, other teams will too.

Now onto the limpics. Sweden's bottom 6 is turrible compared to Canada and the US.

Sweden will rely heavily on their top 6, no question. That said the entire team is on the same page at all times.

I heard Sedin was beyond awful though.

Man canada has the easiest group to play in. Finland is the only challenge and even then, both finland and canada will advance straight to the quarters.

group A has Russia, USA, Slovakia as credible threats. Group C has Sweden, Czech, and Swiss. Group B is only Canada and Finland.

Having an easy group is a detriment.

Every contender has an easy group. The talent gap is large.

The only contender that has an easy group is Canada.

Indeed. Could prove to be detrimental, timmer. What say you?
