I'll take my chances against Pittsburgh rather than ever playing Toronto again.

This is a defense and a goaltender Ottawa can light up and with a guy like Karlsson he can completely control this game. Pitt is a team that's going to be in tough tonight I believe.

On another note, Philly and NYI play tonight and if Philly can win that one then Pitt/NYI is an enormous game Thurs.

Islanders play the Caps, the only difference is do they start on the road or at home. Would they really try to pull out all the stops to get home ice in round one?

Looking at Detroit, they've got two games against Carolina (who just lost to Buffalo) and a Habs team without Pacioretty, If they somehow screw this up they are worse than any of us have thought. Mind you, Montreal wants to hang on to that Division lead (up 2 points on Tampa, but Tampa has the ROWs), and Price might want to set the team record with a 43rd win. Go Habs!

Boston finish on the road against the Caps and the two Florida teams. Washington is in the same boat as the Islanders, fighting for home ice in round 1. They are one point up but Isles hold a game in hand. They'll be scoreboard watching the Flyers/Isles game. Tampa is 2 points back of Montreal for the right to play a Wildcard team in round 1. If Tampa beats the Devils then Montreal can't clinch on Thursday; otherwise (Montreal beats Wings, Tampa loses to Devils) Tampa won't have anything to play for in the season ender against Boston.

So, as always, the only move is to win and not watch the scoreboard.

Pens are missing Letang and Erhoff on D. Downie up front (not that he's a difference maker, but it's one less bunghole to worry about).

Just remembered hearing last night, I think, that Chara had missed practice and they recalled someone from Providence. Go Caps!

What's the difference if Philly wins or loses tonight? Curious.

Islanders and Caps are fighting for home ice.  Caps are 1 point up but Islanders have game in hand.  If Islanders don't win tonight they are less likely to rest veterans against Pittsburgh on Friday.

Edit: Double-checked, yes, the Islanders/Penguins game is Friday, not Thursday. Lots of time for vets to rest, IMO, even if they beat the Flyers.

Reliable sources are telling me that hams will indeed be burgled.

Stay tuned for SSF's sources to corroborate.

My sources were too anxious to get the news out so they have confirmed with me already.

Confirmation has been broadcast through the Twitter.

Not so much about wanting to, it's about resting veterans. Getting home ice is important enough to risk playing your vets; if it's clinched, resting your vets becomes more important than beating a rival.
