That fight by neil was not a good idea. Game changed right after that. Not sure if it was directly responsible, but everything was in cruise control till then. If u got a two goal lead, you don't usually get into fights.

I'll give hambugrlar a pass since it was his first game in some time, including missing a good chunk of preseason. That 3rd goal was bad, and 4th broke their backs. He's gotta be better.

Karlsson's defensive game has regressed so far from what I can see. He's not able to angle people off the way he was last season and too many opposing players are picking off his passes and breakout attempts. And he seems out of place at times. Hope he can shake this off.

That's a whole lot of negatives, but here are some positives:

That's two solid games in a row for the sens. Outshooting their opponents handily, getting majority of the scoring chances. This is like last season when Cameron took over and sens started playing better. The results eventually came and everyone will have to be patient till then. I thought all the lines played pretty well. Prince impressed me a lot yesterday. So did my boy Milo, many left him for dead but he showed some wheels yesterday.

I thought the Neil fight was a questionable decision as well. Mind you, I thought about that after the fact, but he should know better. No one gives a Diddle about a Gordie Howe hat trick.

I want to blame Hammond, but he made some major saves as well

We're incredibly inconsistent and prone to major, repeated defensive lapses.  Hallmarks of a young team.

Right now I wish we were prone to making trades.

Pretty funny that Neil's fight is being blamed.

Yeah, it wasn't the fight that sparked the Devils, it was piss-poor defensive-end play by the Senators. At least on the tying goal they were outnumbered (umm, empty net, maybe they should practice that).

Hopefully with Methot back Karlsson will start playing like a Norris Trophy Recipient again. He really does not play well when paired up with 3rd pairing D-men. I think he ends up trying to do too much and ends up out of position.

so we have to wait for Wednesday for the next game? what a strange schedule we have. i imagine its going to catch up to us at one point and we'll have to play a ton of games compacted.

i guess it's good in a way for now in terms of Methot getting back into the line-up.
any news on if they are recalling Pumps to fill for lazar?

Cameron really like McCormick, so I doubt it. He was very solid, 13 minutes, 5 hits, very effective.

Hoffman might be back for Wednesday's game, so I'm not sure if they are going to recall anyone.

Hoffman only stayed for 12 minutes, talked to the trainer and headed off.  He's not ready for full practice yet.  Lazar didn't skate at all.

Lazar's injury is going to keep him out for a couple games, maybe more.

Garrioch said the Sens *will* recall a forward. So no Hoffman yet.

Since we all know Puempel and Prince aren't ready for the top six so that seems to add up SSF. Put O'dell in the top six as his reward for working hard in bingo. Makes perfect sense to me but I'll defer to wprager on this since he's the expert on who's ready for the to six.
