GAME DAY #69: Senators @ Panthers - 7:30 pm - Thursday, March 10 2016

No time for a write-up. Stupid kid missed his bus so now I have to drive him to school. Dammit!

Driedger returned to Bingo, means Anderson is good to go. He's probably getting the start since it's Florida. The Sens played two games in Florida in December. Sens won the first one 4-2 and then stole a point in the second game as they lost 2-1 in the shootout. Ottawa managed just 17 shots on Luongo while Anderson faced 40. The third game between the clubs took place in Ottawa and it was the Sens' turn to keep the Cats to just 16 shots on goal (season low, would be my guess). Unfortunately three of those slipped by Anderson for a 3-2 loss.

Matrix to start. A win tonight and a Red Wings loss to Winnipeg, and we're only three points out!

So frustratingly close, yet some of our most important players are playing like they couldn't be bothered...

True story. Karlsson went to Alfie's house for supper. Asked him, "Do you think we could pull it off again, like last year?" And Alfie replied, "Probably not".

That probably happened.

By the way, we have another Wideman in the organization somewhere. A winger, I believe. ANy relation to Chris?

If we were destined to be in a playoff spot we would have been there by now with the way the east has gone down. I don't think it'll take 99 points like it did for the sens last season. 96 points is my guess, and we're one loss away from not achieving that.

Let's give up hope already. We're losing this game. It's more important to florida than it is to the sens

Is this a contract year for Smith? I mean, seriously. Murray has found that top-six left winger he's been looking for. Also some ammunition in his contract talks with Hoffman.

no. just no.
smith is no long term solution for the top 6. even arguably not the top 9. we give a contract to smith it will be greening all over again. smith is having a great year no doubt but at his age i'd say this is a one off. enjoy it cuz it won't happen again.

I believe this is the third time you've done that and jinxed them every time. Really working for that draft pick, eh?

After five years as a head/assistant coach, if the players, no matter how bad they are, do not play a system consistently, it is bad coaching.

I hope Melnyk cleans house.
