If you get waived by the leafs... It's not looking very good.

Their strategy, so I've read, is that they expect him to clear and they will use the lack of interest as a knock against him in arbitration.

They need the cap room for Auston.

Stuff to read on a slow day:

I think I got all the way to #24 before I chuckled. But YMMV.

Yeah that's not too bad. different position but if a center with almost 60 points can make. 5.1 mill I imagine Hoffman can't be getting much more than 5.5.

What's the freaking hold up! Sign already!
If he does sign I wouldn't be surprised if the sens try to backload his contract(which I could see the Hoffman. Camp being against)

most of these players sign right after they announce arbitration figures. That's the hold up.

More than a week to go before they go to arbitration, no rush at all.

I thought most of them sign just before they enter the hearing. You want to avoid the inevitable mud-slinging if it all possible, but the closer you get to that deadline the more anxious both parties get. in Hoffman's case it's pretty much a given that if he gets to arbitration he'll be gone after the one year. I don't think Hoffman is at all against leaving (it would most likely mean more money and smaller tax rate). So all the pressure here is on Dorion. I fully expect this one to go right down to the wire.

Edmonton and Minny talking big trade. Pouliot, RNHm Dumba, and Zucker being discussed. Good riddance.
