Elliotte Friedman was on Toronto’s Sportsnet 590 on Friday morning.

    On the Ottawa Senators:

“Bruce Boudreau interviews in Ottawa today, and if that goes well, he’s probably the guy.”

On Eric Francis having told 590 Hartley was a shoo-in for that job:

“I don’t know. I think if Bryan Murray was the general manager still, that might be the case. I’m not sure Pierre Dorion feels as strongly about Bob Hartley as Bryan Murray did.

“My guess is that if the Boudreau thing goes well, and they can agree on a contract – that’s going to be the big one there – he has the inside track.

“If it doesn’t go well, then I think Hartley enters the picture there.”

So...Eric Francis doesn't know his arse from his elbow?
well according to gary lawless minny would be the prime destination for boudreau if they can yank him away from ottawa and in his regards ottawa's prime candidate (after boudreau) for the job is Guy Boucher Laughing3 Facepalm Gag

    oh gary...

He's also the bunghole who said Ottawa would miss the playoffs for the next two seasons. So yeah screw him

I wish they didn't let him leave Ottawa without a contract. We want him (I assume), he wants to be here (I assume), Melnyk should have flown in for this and signed off. This is more important than most things that can be done off-season.

Hmmmm not sure how I feel about that bolded part. Everything that's been speculated said sens would want to keep him around for a second interview next week with Melnyk.

    I'm a bit worried now.

I never heard that really, I read that Melnyk wants to talk to the candidates next Friday (I think it was).

This is what Garrioch had speculated:

Maybe the best bet for Dorion and the Senators, if they’re impressed with what they hear from Boudreau during what’s expected to be a lengthy meeting Friday, is to suggest he doesn’t leave town. If he’s going to be on shortlist of two or three candidates the club could compile by the end of the day, then the Senators could move onto Round 2 immediately.

It’s not like this hasn’t been done in the past.

When the Edmonton Oilers hired GM Peter Chiarelli last year, they contacted him only days after he’d been fired by the Boston Bruins to see if he’d fly out for an interview. He arrived in Edmonton on the Monday and since Oilers president Bob Nicholson knew he had a captive audience with Chiarelli in town, basically kept meeting with him in the city until he signed a deal.

Now could be any number of reasons why Boudreau is headed back but it doesn't exactly instill confidence that the sens/BB want to be in each other's plans. We'll see, I hope I'm just overreacting.

It sounded more to me like he just wants to talk to the guy that gets hired. Letting this drag til Friday is just stupid.

Boudreau is headed home to pack his Dung and get his arse back to Ottawa to get to work ASAP.

It would have been easy for them to sign him now though and end speculation, but yeah, hopefully this means nothing.

On the one hand, when Chiarelli interviewed in Edmonton they asked him to stay for the second day and flew his wife out there to look around. He signed the next day, I think.

On the other hand, if Boudreau doesn't listen to Minny and Calgary he's being foolish and I'm not sure I want another fool behind the bench.

No Ev.  It's over.  The dream is dead.   Sarcasm

Wonder why Mike Yeo isn't being considered for other jobs in Anaheim and Calgary.  Maybe they'll interview him after the WC.
