So Barkov to Komarov for Finland's GWG against Team USA. Is that weird or what?

I think he deserves World Cup consideration but certainly not because of this tournament. This tournament is irrelevant, theyre playing against bad competition throughout.

It's irrelevant to the extent that he's a Top 4 Canadian RW in the NHL no matter what. It might be a little relevant to the extent that he's shown he can thrive with limited minutes if they have him slotted as a 4th liner in a World Cup context.

He's an ottawa senator....he's not going to get any consideration from hockey canada. Morgan Rielly likely has a higher chance than Mark Stone.

You may be on to something there.

For some reason, Hockey Canada believes in taking a million  centres over guys that are specialists on the wing. Whatever. It's better for the Sens that we have the fewest number of world cup participants. #Hasek

At wing? Sarcasm

Yet, somehow they are in the semis. If I were Team Canada I would not take them lightly. They just might have a chip on their shoulder from the 5-1 opener, and if their goalie catches a hot streak we could be having a replay of the Finland game.

On paper, though, this should be a gimme.

Finland-Russia tomorrow at 9:15. Then Canada-USA at 1:15. Russia has 3 of the top 4 point-getters in the tournament and 5 of the top 20. Canada has 4 of the top-10 and 6 of the top-20. Finland has 2 of the top 5 and 5 in the top 20. Meanwhile Team USA has Auston Matthews -- the only player from their roster to break the top-20.

Those brash young Finns are getting schooled by Russia. Didn't get their first shot on goal until they got a ticky-tack powerplay half way through the first. The Russians had 8 shots and a goal by that time. But this game is not going to end 1-0.

Like I was saying, the 1-0 lead was not going to hold up. Finns score two PPG and add a third to lead 3-1 after 2. Russians are 0 for 3 on the PP and Finns are 2 for 3. They are 1-1 even strength.

Finns played like the 90s Devils with the lead. Boring hockey but effective.

I think Canada had 7 or 8 shots befored the Finns registered their 1st. Then Canada started playing undisciplined and we know the rest. Lesson learned hopefully.

An incredible feat, if you ask me, especially considering that Canada does not play for another half hour.

Madness. It was 2-0 and now they're lucky to be tied 3-3. Mark Stone with a microfracture to the shoulder. Gallagher is outscoring McDavid, Hall, Perry combined! (in this game)

It's funny, when he first got hit he jumped up looking mad. Then as he skates away he drops to one knee. Gerry Townend comes out to tend to him, looked like he was stretching by moving his shoulder back, and then he goes down to one knee *again*. Very odd. Hope he's not injured.

And Ceci blocked a shot with his hand. Looked to be in some discomfort.
