Name one fan in Minnesota that is happy about the Suter/Parise contracts. The Sens are doing it right. No complaints here.

I agree with this for sure. Suter isn't too bad, but the Parise deal is atrocious. That deal might single-handedly keep them out of contention. Well, that and Pominville. Sarcasm

I understand what Minnesota did. They went all in. Their window closed and some of their players aged. They need a serious retool now to get younger. You can't expect all teams that go all in to actually win it.mfor some it will work, for others no. It didn't pan out for minny.
Oh for sure. They went for it, and there's nothing wrong with that. Parise was elite when they made that deal, but it's an anchor now. He may still look like a 20-year old, but he's getting up there and is signed until his early 60s.

Point I am making is I rather not spend stupidly . The Sens are keeping money and space available . When the time is right l, say in another year or two they'll have their core of young players signed, some good players on ELCs, and they'll be ready to compete. They have 4 capable d and cannot a year away, white and brown may be ready, Paul and Lazar will be better . Well be really good in two years and it will be sustainable

Agreed. I think the Sens are really well situated for the next few years. They have a good mix of maturing elite/excellent players and young up-and-coming talent.

I completely agree that we are about two years away of having our key prospect becoming full time NHLers and our big window to compete will likely open then but in the mean time I would see nothing wrong with having one extra top 6 player stop gap that can either play in the top 9 or the top 2 lines and also a vet D-man for the bottom pairing(which I think they will go after).

If they are serious about the now time then it would be great experience for everyone on the team to be playoff contender and get that post season experience. As it stands today we are likely again a wildcard contender. An injury away from not making the playoffs.

Sounds like Dorion doesn't want to give Ceci long term yet, after listening to his interview on The Drive

I think they're justified asking Ceci to earn his paycheque and take a bridge. He's been good, but if they see him as a long-term option, I don't know if he's done enough yet.

Yeah. I'd much prefer a two year bridge also.
Get a clearer idea of what he can do and if he can overcome his deficiencies.

I'm listening to the Dorion interview and I have to say that in general he sees to get it, seems to understand what this team needs and what seemed to work more than the last two coaches we've just had. Seems to say some of the stuff we've been saying for years. More than Brian Murray seemed to get it.

Judging by this interview he came off a little cocky, in a good way! Should make for some interesting sound bites and future interview.
