Really? A guy that hasn't hit the 20 goal plateau more than once and that in his first season in the NHL?

I'd rather pay a big price to get a much better winger. I've had enough of just looking to trade for average. We need a star on the wing or someone very close to it.

He's so good though...like a Mark Stone with slightly lesser production. Love this player.

But we need slightly more production. We need a guy that can either bring between 20 and 30 goals and then some other intangibles. Lando, duchenes are good examples. Probably would do much better in Ottawa too compared to where they are.

They'll cost a lot more. I dunno, adding Palat would be a massive thing.
Yup. But maybe that's where we are at.

    http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=122662

Look at that production though. 59 points, 63, pro-rated 53. This is Mark Stone all over again - and also, hitting 60 points is the new 80 IMO, not many players can really do it anymore. I'd be surprised if there was 25 players in the whole league last year that hit 60 points.

He's close to Landeskog production-wise, all that's separating him are slightly more goal production.

Duchene is where it's at if we don't want Palat, but man...Palat is great.
I look at how well palat did on a team that had some fairly good level of success and then Landon and duch and think there's a much better deal there.
Not that I wouldn't take palat but Ceci + ? I don't know about that.

There's plenty of time for ottawa to asses him before the deadline though

Exactly. And I don't necessarily agree with this approach, but for a budget team, it doesn't make sense to rush into anything else if we can see where Mac is at before the deadline. We're not in a desperate position...Yet.

We're 1 point out of 2nd on the Atlantic with *five* hashes in hand. We were in 2nd before out bye week and we will be back there as soon as tonight. I think the best approach now is to wait and see where MacArthur is.

Yes getting mac, a player that hasn't played in over a year is really what this team is lacking to put us over and make us into a sound playoff team.

Sometimes I wonder about you guys.
If his is the state of this team going forwards we'll be lucky to make it past one round. We definitely won't make it past any teams in the metropolitan division. We are so lucky to be in the craptastic Atlantic

We definitely need to add some depth up front with or without MacArthur.

They go for someone as depth without question. Dorion's apparently in Florida with our pro scouts as the are, discussing it.

But, they also will assess MacArthur obviously.

Mac is the depth they will be adding in the bottom 6. What they need is to add someone in the top 6.
It's freaking obvious, why it's not to them is ridiculous, almost insulting. It's almost as if they are satisfied being an average team. And as the season average will turn into mediocre.

Where does this new addition slot in though?

    Hoffman - Turris - Stone
    Smith - brassard -ryan
    Mac - Pageau - dzingel
    Pyatt - kelly - neil
    Lazar

Smith would be better suited on the third line out fourth line center, depending on whether Mac can play. Pyatt would sit.

I just said this in the other thread, but play Pyatt-Smith-Lazar as your fourth line. Mac replaced Pyatt as the third line left winger and an upgrade from a trade replaces Smith on the second line. Let's say Landeskog.

Nite, of course we have a hole in the second pairing because we just traded away Ceci. So move Phaneuf to the right side or promote Wideman and Boro switches sides. Chabot (with Phaneuf) or Claesson (with Boro).

That could work of we get Andy back in goal.

O'Connor back to Bingo. Driediger recalled. As much as Condon has done for the Sens, maybe he needs a break. Last night was not good.

Pyatt isn't going to sit, you can take that to the bank.

You act as if it's easy to just add a top 6 forward. Also, they can't afford to take on more salary, especially given that they'll be paying Mac soon (I assume he's been covered by insurance). This is still a young team...A little bit of patience is required here. Dorion's not shy to make deals, but he's gotta wait for the right ones. Do you see other teams making a ton of trades right now?

Condon's had one of these stinkers from time to time, no reason to think he won't bounce back.
