Absolutely agree with that comment. Hard to argue QC over Hamilton as far as that goes, but I'd love to see another team in Quebec.

Seeing as I've decided to comment on everything else why not this.

My husband wrote quite a nice thesis in University on how Las Vegas would save the NHL and turn it into a top 3 sport like NFL and Baseball.

I'll save you all the boring stuff but the basic theme is that being in Vegas would bring in betting dollars and he showed how interest in the NFL increased each year as the amount being spent on betting on NFL games went up.

I tend to think that while they should put another team in Canada, I think they will go to Vegas. The first sport in Vegas will thrive, and if I'm Bettman I secretly go to the casino's and say...

"While we can't publically endorse betting on our sport, we would like to know what we can do to help you to increase betting."

Things like accurate injury reports 24/48 hours before a game. Starting players/goalies declared 24 hours before game time...etc

Doing things like this will increase betting, and Dawg believes that increasing the betting will dramatically increase interest in the sport. Like the NFL, more people betting, in pools...etc will increase the popularity.

Very interesting move that could increase the popularity of the sport in a new market.

I cast my vote for Winnipeg. Although the MTS Center is small, Winnipeg fans are RABID!

I went to a couple of Manitoba Moose games when I lived in Winnipeg, and it was intense! for the AHL, even

Yeah Winnipeg struck me as a good place as well but, do you think they could sustain a franchise longterm? Is there enough Corporate support?

I'm too young to remember why they left, but they certainly couldn't match Hamilton/KW/GTA/London as far as corporate support. Would it be enough to stay? Who knows.

Some of Canada's largest insurance and medical companies are out in Winterpeg...don't think that the corp support won't be there..it will.

Winterpeg lost their team more because of the arena and ownership not fans.

I just asked the question and I was under the impression that it was a lack of corporate support. I hope you're right and it would be great to have a team back there. I'd love it if Quebec came back as well and if they also expanded into Halifax and Hamilton. Bring on more Canadian teams!! Hopefully then we'll have a better shot of bringing the Cup back to Canada :D

Winnipeg won't get a team for a very long time... That was deceided when they build the MTS centre to below NHL standards... It's very true the fans had nothing to do with the Jets leaving, poor city management is the cause of this problem...

and I agree I think any team in Canada shouldn't really have too many problems for Corporate support for Hockey.. But like Matt says, they still can't compete with the GTA for corporate support, so i'd see a team going there before Winnipeg or Quebec City, which has almost the same problems as Winnipeg..
