Plekanec and Alzner healthy scratches for Montreal tonight against Toronto. I was surprised by that news

Strange move. Watch Kotkaniemi lose 10-15 draws.

Alzner's been terrible for them (and was a terrible signing from day one). I dunno about Plekanec, but that guy's last good season was 15/16. I'm not sure why Montreal brought him back.

He's marked now, the NHL will be watching him like a hawk.

With all the concussion talk surrounding the NHL they're going to do everything they can to eliminate these types of pksys. Wilson out almost $2M after taxes because of this suspension

Leafs didn't deserve the 2 points. Outplayed by the Habs for at least half the game. Celebrating like they won the freaking Cup. They should be embarrassed.

So are we not making standing predictions this year?

Karlsson -2, 0 points, and 1 sog. He was on the ice for the PP goal against as well.

On the PP goal he was defending in no-man's land with a give-and-go goal right through him.

    Just trolling

I watched the game from start to finish. Montreal was the better team but Price did play exceptionally well.

Aside from Matthews and Tavares, the Leafs looked pretty average. Their goaltending and defense will definitely be their downfall this year. If their forwards aren't committed to playing in all three zones the Leafs will be in for a disappointing year.

F'ing Toronto.  Defense will still be their ultimate downfall if it's not addressed.

They have also played no team of great significance so far.

They are fun to watch but Dubas is going to regret not getting Matthews and Marner locked up early.

4 x 1sts and 7 x 14M would be worth it from Phoenix. Probably help them sell the 49% they have on the market and get a new building.

    Lou could offer Marner 7 x 10.1M and only pay 2 1sts a 2nd and 3rd.

Did they have a chance though? Were either open to an extension before the year? I haven't been following that much.

    Tavares - $11M
    Marner - $10M
    Matthews - $12M
    Nylander - $8M
    Total: $41M

    Awful defence, average goaltending.

If I am Dubas I am loading up this year to win a cup with a bunch of rentals. Otherwise it won't be doable given the salaries of some of these players.

Toronto looks very much like a President's Trophy team that will be done in the second round, if not the first. They would need Anderssen to be nice and fresh for the playoffs but without a decent backup (and giving up a ton of shots each night) he will be over-worked.
