Any Jagr rumors? It's been five years since he guy signed by Dallas as a 40 year old. He needs 37 goals to pass Howe, so I guess he's looking for a 2 year term Smile

I'm on enemy land, TO. Too bad the rookie tournament isn't this weekend.

He may get those 2 years. I'm not sure if he'll be hitting $4+ million per, though. I still think he could help Ottawa.

Not a bad guy to sign, but Ottawa can't give him two years.

He'd be great on a team like Vegas. Probably would get his 36 goals since he'd be the only one anyone would pass to. But no chance of a Cup unless he's traded at the deadline.

I can't see him wanting to play for Vegas. The guy had a huge gambling addiction which almost wiped him clean of his money.
You can say there's a casinos everywhere but it's just not like Vegas.

I'd take him in Ottawa on a one year but it doesn't seem like a direction the team wants to go in.

Rookies report to camp Thursday. Couple of on ice seasons and then they're off to Toronto for the rookie tournament. Just the Leafs and Habs, no Penguins. They are letting the same round robin format, so just two games. Main camp starts the following week. It's getting real close, people.

If Brown stays healthy this could be a huge year for him. He should start to really dominate soon.

In the AHL expecting big strides from Perron. That was his first year pro, and he's a small guy who needs to improve his strength. Stat line almost identical to Hoffman's first year.

Make or break year for Paul. He played better in the second half last year but, overall, that was a disappointing season. I wonder if he thought he'd be in Ottawa and sulked because he was sent down.

It's gonna have to be for brown. As an older player in his league there's no other choice really. It wouldn't bod well if he didn't.

Same goes for Perron. If he's going to be able to take the next step and play with pros this year will have to show some fairly big improvements. First year can always be notched as adjustment.

Meh, it's been pretty typical. At least the expansion draft made it a bit more interesting, although even that was a bit of a wet fart (and man, Vegas will be B.A.D.).

Caps sign jokipakaa (or whatever the spelling is) to a PTO.

Sens obviously lost out on top pairing potential right there.Sarcasm

At least he got a shot somewhere.

Maybe it's just this off season being so run of the mill when we all expected Dorion to try to make this team better but I'm feeling a lot less excitement about the upcoming season as I should after the season we just had.

Larger players typically take longer, especially when they grow quickly. Last year he was injured for almost half the season, so that delayed his development. So if he doesn't dominate in his last year in the OHL I'm not going to be too concerned.

Perron should improve. Hoffman went from 7g/18a to 21/28 in his second year. Perron had very similar numbers his first year -- 6/20 (in a handful fewer games). I don't expect as dramatic an increase in his second year, but I do expect an increase.

We have a totally revamped bottom six with Neil/Kelly/Lazar/Wingels gone (all played 20+ games for the Sens last year); replacing them in the lineup would be MacArthur, Thompson and White. I'm not suggesting that MacArthur is a bottom-six player in this scenario, it could be whoever played up in his place. The thing is the bottom-six will be very different. And in the top-six we have (hopefully) MacArthur and a rejuvenated Bobby Ryan. Brassard is likely to miss the start of the season and that's going to hurt, but it won't be for very long and, hopefully, Turris/Pageau/Smith/White will be more than able to keep it going.

On the back-end losing Methot is big, but it's not huge. Oduya, more Claesson, Chabot and a few games from Englund/Harpur/Jaros (perhaps) and we should be in good shape. As with the forwards, if Karlsson isn't ready from day one then it's going to be rough. Very rough. Hopefully he doesn't miss any time.

The PP will get a lot more attention this year, early on. Given the personnel on the ice and Boucher's track-record in the past, I have full confidence that this area will show a significant improvement.

I am very excited about this new season.

Ottawa/Montreal/Toronto rookie tournament runs Friday thru Sunday. The Sens play the Habs Saturday at 7pm and are up against Toronto on Sunday at 4pm. All games are in Toronto.

    Hey...I guess hockey's back.

Karlsson still has no timetable for his rehab. He hasn't been on the ice side his surgery.
