Yeah, hopefully Ottawa can manage to squeak by Pittsburgh because Nashville is really banged up.

Yep. Down 2-0 game 3 was must win. But if they go down 1-3 facing elimination in Pittsburgh I don't like their chances. So it's another must win game.

Wow. These preds! You can't help but cheer for them! And that fan base! That looks like a fun arena to be in right now. You gotta love how they're showing the disgust of the attending pens fans Laughing3 .

Love the chanting: Murr-ray. Murr-ray. Murr-ray. You suck. It's all your fault. It's all your fault. It's all your fault.

There's an online guide book to explain all the chants. I love it.

That's an excellent idea! We should have that in ottawa. Something for the fans to learn. The team should get behind that. Because it looks awesome in Nashville! Yeah

How many years/decades have they been using the "Make some noise" graphics at the CTC? Or the fake noise meter?

That said, we have the Red Scarf Union section sand they bring drums and practice chants. I had read that it was just three guys who started this in Nashville. Different crowd, though.

Honestly, I don't think there's much they can do in the CTC for now. It's mostly suburbian families that aren't too interested in getting loaded and yelling their faces off. Once the team moves downtown, that's when they'll have a great opportunity to reinvent the experience. It's just too bad they have to wait 10 years (assuming Eugene doesn't Diddle this up).

I have zero respect for bandwagon fanbases like Nashville. Let's see how they fare when their team isn't good in a couple of years.

Team got good in the mid-2000s, tickets sold well. Lately with a medicore team, ticket sales not so good.

Nashville has had a very strong, very vocal fanbase for a long time. The term "Smashville" was started (voted by fans) 12 years ago. They've been in the high 90s (percent tickets sold) for a while.

Yeah, I think the team managed to sell the idea that we were a better team than we actually were from 2008 to 2014 and that kept the bandwagon fans coming. But the team stretch of being half decent until now has caught up to those fans. I believe this playoff run came at just the right time to boost fan expectations and drive fans back to the rink. We could have really seen how much bandwagoning this team really had had we really sucked it for a good 4-5 year stretch.

I don't think Ottawa is exempt from having a fairly large section of their fan base being bandwagon.
That's just normal in many sports markets. We just think otherwise because we've iced such a competitive or half decent team for long stretches.
I think Toronto is the only team that could fill seats and that's likely thanks to corporate giveaways. Even Montreal suffered in the late 90's eRly 2000's. They did a great job building a new identity with young fans to drive market sales but it remains that they feel they have to remain competitive at all costs because they fear loosing those revenues. The habs of today are like the leafs of the mid to late 2000's.
