    R2GDT#3: Sens @ Rangers, May 2, 7:00pm

Post by wprager on Tue May 02, 2017 6:32 am

The last - and only other - time the Senators led 2-0 in a series game 2 was won in a double not overtime goal from an unlikely source. The game had been tied on a late third period goal by a diminutive player known for dramatic post season exploits. Sound familiar?

It was 2007, Briere tied it with 6 seconds to go, and "Uh-oh" Corvo won it in double OT.

So there were some differences after all. One thing I don't expect -- in that G3 in 2007 Buffalo only put up 15 shots on Emery as Ottawa won 1-0 to take a stranglehold on the series. This time around, while I fully expect both goalies to bring their A-game, I couldn't imagine the rest of the Rangers team to roll over and play dead. We may well need Andy to steal one to come out up 3-0. This is a must win for New York and they know it.

On the injury front MacArthur said it was a pinched nerve that sidelined him midway through G2 and he's ready to go. Pyatt is also good to go after missing the last six games. Even though they won, I would not be surprised if Boucher changes things up and reinserts Pyatt. Thing is, who do you take out? Boro skated yesterday but did not practice with the team. He's not ready yet.

The Rangers don't appear to have any injuries, but we know some are playing hurt. Just need to keep hitting them, or stepping out of the way when they try to hit us. Injuries will come, sooner or later.

    Go Sens Go!!!

Game 3 is definitely going to be tough. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Rangers take their first home game.

Real tough game, if we can survive the first half of the first period we might be ok.

Hopefully the Rags are feeling the pressure, and Ottawa can play another perfect road game and capitalize on their mistakes.

Anderson pretty much never has two poor games in a row, and his numbers at MSG are ridiculous.

Yep, I would fully expect the Rangers to pour it all out in the first 5-10 minutes. If we can weather the storm we have a good chance to take a stranglehold on the series. Rangers had a hard series against the Habs, then the double-OT game, too. Several of the Sens players had an easier schedule due to injuries and other reasons (Anderson, Methot, Stone); others were brought in and have relatively fresh legs. I must admit I know little about the Rangers. I guess Mikachu is relatively fresh as well.

I have the Sens winning again tonight. That loss was deflating for NYR. They don't have the leadership or character to come back.

It's gonna be crazy. The first 10 minutes we could be down 3-0 or Anderson could stand on his head. All we can say is Go Sens! Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

We will absolutely not be down 3-0 even if we don't have a good start. This game will be 2-1, 2-0 type of game.

    Yost doesn't mince words:
    http://www.tsn.ca/talent/there-s-no-place-for-the-rangers-to-hide-girardi-1.740469
Girardi is getting crushed out there. It was true in the Montreal series and its true in the Ottawa series. He is 47 shots underwater through eight games, good for eighth worst out of about 250 regular playoff skaters. And its not a blip on the radar its been a consistent theme for Girardi this season, and really, much longer than that.
