Meh, it was just a SensChirp tweet last night and then some of the replies. I also have a source that "refused to comment" which pretty much told me everything I need to know.

We've discussed it on here before. Melnyk will sell before shovels are in the ground. Isn't there supposed to be a big announcement in January?

January is likely NCC and the development group agreement. It still needs to go through the city. Melnyk is not popular with the power brokers at city hall (Cyril Leeder firing).

Sounds like Dreger chose his words carefully. Of course Melnyk has no interest in selling ATTHIS TIME, he needs Lebreton finalized to maximize sale price.

Just when you thought PK Subban was only hurting the habs with his contract now this.

Im all fairness of course both those guys are worth more. But was PK worth 9 to begin with? No.
Let us hope karlsson doesnt need to pass the 11 mark.

If Karlsson wants more than 11M I'd trade him next summer. Simple as that.

I cant see us winning that trade. Our D would be gutted. Even if wed get a fairly good D as part of the package. That would be the dumbest move. But I do agree that 11 is fair but I wont be surprised if her gets 12

If he gets back to himself by the end of the year I'd give him 12 bu I bet he comes in between 10.5 and 11.5

I actually think it was removed because now I cant find it but did you guys see the post about how karlsson said he will make his next contract a business decision and wont be taking any less than what hes able to get. Wether its in Ottawa or elsewhere.

I know theres got a level of posturing in negotiations but that doesnt sound to optimistic about resigning. Sens will have to pay through the nose.
Any chance new ownership is in before July rolls around?

Only the Sens can give him 8 years. 8x12.5. A nice round number.

What I dont like is the level bitterness thats already in the dialogue. Weve heard more than once voice his displeasure with the org or how it was handling things. Maybe Karlsson isnt too keen on resigning. All I know is its lretty much gotta happen this off season, cant become a distraction next season because it will be a huge distraction! And if we did not resign him this summer and lost him to FA for nothing the following summer in an attempt to have more time to sign him that would be a catastrophe.
