Im very skeptical of duchene wanting to resign in ottawa.

I think he would resign. He's from Haliburton, so it's about as close as he can get to his home town.

I don't see us catching Arizona for last, but Buffalo is within striking distance!

Duchene mentioned when he got traded that he was happy to be traded to a contender and not always be part of a team that's rebuilding...

But he is close to home.

IMO it could go either way.

But re-signing Karlsson (or trading him for a competitive package), and Stone will go a long way in convincing him I think.

Ottawa won't be re-building so that's OK. I don't think he will leave, he will be loyal to the team that traded for him.

Thats been the logic for most players that are traded for but this is a special situation. If we lose kalrsson I think we also lose duchene.

Again, I think it comes down to what we get back for Karlsson if we do trade him. If we trade Karlsson for picks/prospects, somehow land a top-three forward in the off-season, and fix up our defence then I agree that Duchene stays. But if we trade our players for futures and play out the next few years without adding I don't think Duchene would be too inclined to stay.

Sens are down to 10 healthy forwards. McCormick is coming down. Boucher will go with 7/11.

Duchene has been great. The best player on the team.

White looked very good last night on a line with Duchene and Hoffman.

Burrows is going to be suspended for 6+ games for kneeing Taylor Hall in the head multiple times. This won't help tank nation.

If they suspend him for that, this league is totally ruined now. There's no way he's intentionally kneeing him in the head.

Wow, you are totally nuts if you watch the replay and don't think that's intentional.

According to you, the league is now "totally ruined", so I guess you're done with the NHL?

I don't think it was intentional. Just my take.

I'm not done with the league, but my interest in hockey this year is very low. Not only because of the Sens, but because the game is just not nearly as good as it was before. There's very little physicality or fighting anymore (not staged fights, don't care about those). Teams are focusing way too much on speed which often takes away skill as there are a ton of speedy guys who can't score for the life of them.

And reason #2 why the NHL is pathetic, the Vegas Knights. It's a complete farce that they're in the Top 3 of the entire league. This is going to ruin the sport in a lot of people's eyes.

I am not sure why Vegas doing well makes the NHL pathetic. I think it makes a lot of GMs look bad, and maybe the expansion rules were a little too favourable for them. I don't really care that they are good this year. How does this "ruin the sport"?

I hope they modify the protection rules a little for the next expansion team. Would be nice to maybe protect an extra Dman

Well we could've protected an extra defenceman, but that would've meant losing Pageau or another forward. I think the rules were fine, I think GMs just did a Dung job preparing for it.

Here's a link with video. So obviously intentional.
