Let me guess, he was in your class?
    Yup.

I know he went to highschool at SRB. I have a couple of friends who are close friends of his in fact. Kindergarten I'm thinking Knoxdale only because it was close but it's a shot in the dark.
Knoxdale is correct! Nicely done. He was in my class. I'll have to see if I can find the class photo and scan it. Heh heh.

Hint: Just like "Mickey", his (last) name begins with 'M'.
    Martin St. Louis? Mighty Mouse?

    Nuh-uh!

THe only guy I know is actually a close friend of my father in laws...

    Guy Trottier..

I'm not sure if Leaf fans chanted his name to the Mickey Mouse club song..but his nickname was Mouse.

The guy I'm looking for has won a Stanley Cup, so that rules out most former Leafs Smile This guy is also in the Hall of Fame and, it's entirely possible that Dave the Rave was chanting along, watching the game on TV.
I caved and Googled for the answer... but won't spoil it here.

I'm even having trouble googling for it... I've found a 1-day coach, but it was not an expansion team...

    Nope, keep looking.

Here's a hint. This guy is a Hall of Famer with an award named after him.

Ooh, guys, sorry, I had some facts wrong. What I had was this:

Maurice "Rocket" Richard was the first coach of the Quebec Nordiques, and after losing his first game he stepped down. Thing is, this was before they were an expansion NHL franchise. Technically, though, I didn't really say in my question that they were in the NHL Smile

Philly Quakers, and the early thirties, i believe '32, but it could be as late as '35.

    My memory is failing.
