wprager wrote:OK, here's a tough one. Who was the first player to break one of Gretzky's NHL scoring (regular season) records?

And if you don't limit it to the regular season, which Gretzky NHL scoring record was the first to fall, and who did it?
I have no clue on either. I know Tavares broke a record of his in Junior :D

Give up?
did malkin beat his consecutive point streak to start a season? if not i give :D

He may have. But that wouldn't have been the first.

Interesting follow up. Who holds the record for breaking the most Gretzky records? It may very well be that a bunch of guys are tied for first with 1 each. I just don't know.

My guess would be Pittsburgh with Jagr and Lemieux, either them or Boston with Espo and Orr back in the day

Pittsburgh, for sure. But if you include the years before the trophy was introduced (scoring leaders) it would have to be Montreal.

yet he is :D . well do you know who was the first goalie to be awarded an assist on an overtime game-winning goal in the post-season?

No, I don't! Next question!

(wow, that was easy)

Seriously, though, first choice would have to be Roy. That year we (I mean they -- but I was living in Montreal at the time) won 10 straight OT games. If not him, then Brodeur would be my next guess. Just going with percentages (most playoff appearances).
