Well, at least we aren't the Detroit Red Wings.

Thumped 8-0 by the Predators.

Maybe they'll be interested in Gerber. Wink

Pekka Rinne will be the best goalie in the NHL in a few years

Steve Mason can go f*ck himself.

Honestly though, half of Mason's success comes from the team he plays on(just ask Leclaire). When Mason was in the OHL, it was far too easy to get under his skin. Just chanting his name was enough to knock him off hos game.

Pekka has nerves of steel and the skills to go with it. In 5 years, I predict Rinnee will be ahead of Price, Mason, Elliott, Poggee, Rask, Enroth, Markstrom and the like.

^Lundqvist will still be around in 5 years.

You don't think Rinne benefits from a D with Weber, Suter, Hamhuis etc. etc. etc.?

It's no coincidence that Vokoun, Mason, Ellis and now Rinne all look like all-stars. Just like it's no coincidence that Lacosta and Leclaire got so many shut-outs, or why Roloson, Fernandez, Backstrom and Harding all look/looked awesome in a Minnesota uniform.

Defence is everything.

Its just the way Rinne looks when he plays. granted I've seen alot more of Mason than Pekka, but there's just something about Rinne that impresses me every time. Not that I wouldnt love to have Mason, but Rinne just has the "it" factor.

Stock had a good point just now about the Rangers and Av fight night. Redden was the only one on the ice who did not drop his gloves during the slug fest....wonder what Reddens idea of team building is....hmmmm wonder what Torts thinks.

Prima Donna.

And Redden will be outta the NHL in a year, 2 years top. He's just a shell of the player he once was.

Redden = has been, I don't think he'll get along with Torts. As well, CBC has confirmed that Guerin waived and they ruled out a large number of the eastern teams for Guerin. They suspect it maybe Washington who traded for him. Hopefully something gets announced shortly.

The last time the Wings lost 8-0 was in 1982.

Arnott with the hattrick, Weber with the Gordie Howe hattrick and +5.

Rafalski and Lidstrom somehow managed an even +/- rating. :^^^^:

This is more impressive than the win itself. Was it 7 PP goals and a shortie?

Boogard gets 5 games for his elbow on Prust. This guy has 3 assists in 47 games. Why is he even on the ice with less than 2 to go? Lemaire should have gotten a fine as well because there was obviously more than half a brain involved in that decision.

No kidding. The past couple of years he's looked overworked and tired once the playoffs come around. This year, he should be settling into mid-season form nicely, just at the right time. NJ is my favorite for the east, particularly if they can add a shutdown defenseman to their blueline. Boston has had a great deal of success so far, but will that carry over to the playoffs? Right now, if I had to, I'm putting my money on Brodeur and Co.

Maybe we can convince Lou to take Phillips for Zajac(who is very underrated) and a pick, or even J. Smith for a 1st (wishful thinking), or solid prospect like Tedenby Smile

^ That is wishful thinking. Smile

NJ has been my favourite since training camp with Boston second and Philly 3rd, now that Washington doesn't really care they don't have a goalie and are playing like it - I can see them doing damage too.

Still, when the dust settles, I like the Devils to go to the Cup. Not sure if they'll win it, but they have the horses to do some damage.

Oh I know it's a pipe dream. I'm a big big fan of Zajac, and Tedenby would have been top 5 pick if he was 6'2", perhaps even higher.

You're right, the East is pretty much a 4 horse race. My order would be NJ, then Boston, then Philly, then Washington. Washington's goaltending is suspect, otherwise I might have them as high as 2nd, but certainly 3rd.

Are we going to have to wait 'til March 4th to see some significant trades or what? How about Neil and Kuba going somewhere?

P.S We shattered our posts in a month record by over 1100 with 8254 for the month of February. This topic is also about to reach 1000 posts (currently 935) as well!!

So... the Devils seem to be on fire... Brodeur is gone for a few months and the team learns to play D and score and now he's back, and they're getting better. Yowza.

Queue the Bob Gainey calling Tampa for Recchi, unless the rumours are true, Guerin to Montreal, still betting on it being Washington.

well he did add Schneider and Metropolit for basically nothing, guess he gave up on Vinny though. I definitely agree with a GM standing pat and not jeopardizing the future of the franchise for a quick fix. (especially if you are montreal and fighting for the bottom 4 spots)
