Re: Kari Lehtonen traded to Dallas
Waddell's weakness for years has been not realizing soon enough that he needs to trade a player. He has done well on the Hossa and Kovalchuk deals, considering the circumstances. The problems were that he waited way too long to make the deals, essentially cornering himself.

Anyone know anything about Horton's character out of curiosity?

Bit of a clown and cocky, but his skill is off the charts. There is no motivation down in Florida just like Atlanta... tough to get a read on those guys. If no one cares about you or your team, why would they?
Horton will give you a legit scoring threat from in tight with his big body, uses his body as well (when motivated) and can def add to a Sens team lacking a real winger after Alfi and Michalek.

Oh god, I hope so.....![]()
I don't think we need anything desperately right now, but I'm always down for a good trade.
Me too! Myers for Orlov!

I would love to see what a motivated Horton could do. Neely is right about his skillset. He has top end tools but bottom end motivation. Could be the environment?!

Horton is what you would call Bryan Murray's dream player. 1st, foligno, Kelly territory.

Pretty close but there is defently some question about his character, but he's down in Florida, I question everything about having a team there, the players do as well.
Horton would fit like a glove in Ottawa at a good price.
Lee, Foligno, and a 2nd would prob do it.

Make it a first, and maybe FLA bites. I can't imagine why they'd trade him, tho'. It's not like that trade is going to help their sputtering offense.

Re: Kari Lehtonen traded to Dallas
Horton is a problem there, he hates it. He's a big reason they always have long stretches where they are garbage. His attitude is one that can rub off on everyone else, at least a team with that little leadership. Ottawa has been a perfect fit for him for a while now and with Heatley gone he can def be a go to guy, might very well help Spezza as well.
The demand for Horton would be high I imagine.

Hmmm. Doesn't scream Cory Clouston type though.

The rumour is he's NY bound. I doubt we're even in it to be honest. But...who knows?

Re: Kari Lehtonen traded to Dallas
Well, Horton's been on the IR since January 23, out 4-6 weeks with a fractured leg. A trade for him right now benefits Florida, but in the long run, hurts them. Horton is a dominant player - physical, scoring ability, plays both centre and wing. Durability's been an issue though.
Florida would want a lot back. Likely a roster player, a high pick, and a prospect or two.
Moving a couple of bodies for him, from Ottawa's perspective, makes little sense because they would be without a few bodies until he is cleared to return. And that would hurt their playoff standings.
