Now Flo...one of them has won a Hart Trophy, the other hasn't, so I'm not sure how fair you're being here.

Dr. Poo, changing minds and making the world a better place for Sens fans, one man (or woman!) at a time...
Next up: why you should distrust the "Spezza had a mystery injury" argument...

Seriously, he would make the team better. But so would a few other options around the league.

I watched Svatos the other night and he defently has something there still. If you gave up a guy like O'Brien to take a flyer on the guy, I would def give it a shot. He looked solid and perhaps his old Jr coach can get him going. Sometimes guys need a fresh start.

I watched the same game, it had to be the same game. Who was it...it was a shutout for Anderson...and Svatos had three or four really nice chances. Looked like a mini-Kovalchuk. Must have been a good night for him or he does need another chance.

I think there was mention on the Hotstove that Svatos played for Clouston in Kootenay and that might be a reason he'd end up in Ottawa.

Seriously, I wouldnt give up anything really signifigant for Svatos but why not take a shot on him at some point in the off season perhaps. Could be worth it... again, an O'Brien for Svatos deal or Lee for Svatos might be solid.

I'd prefer a Picard for Svatos deal, Lee atleast shows flashes of being useful

Re: TRADE DEADLINE BONANZA!
Lee has no shot at being in Ottawa though. He wont be showing any more flashes in Ottawa. Karlsson took his spot that he could have had with some effort and a good camp, hell, he could have actually played like he gave a damn in Bingo too.
Lee wont play another game in Ottawa unless injuries hit hard. Ill take Picard over Lee every day of the weak. Lee brings nothing, Picard with his faults actually provides a decent amount of offense and a PP point shot. His first game back in a long time and people expect him to be as good as Karlsson is... no one on that team will be at Karlsson's level in a year let alone a guy like Picard right now. Karlsson IMO is the biggest reason along with Elliot, Spezza, Alfi, and Kovy that team went on a tear. Hell, I dont think Spezza, Alfi, or Kovy even look as good as they did without Karlsson.
So dealing Lee at this point is just dealing a spare part. Picard is a good 7th D man to have. Cant blame him for having a bad game being out for 3 weeks when the entire team was brutal that nigth as well as a motivated Leafs team,

Meh, I think Svatos has played 8 minutes so far. Not a great game to get a good look, but from little I've seen I've liked. Particularly his play to Stastny.

His big knock is his inconsistency, which he really isn't overly.

What separates a superstar from a star from a role player. *sigh*...you can't cure that at this point in his career.
But you can stick him on a line with Alfie and Spezza and see what happens.

Re: TRADE DEADLINE BONANZA!
From spectorshockey.net:
THE TENNESSEAN: John Glennon reports the Nashville Predators are facing decisions about perhaps bolstering their roster for the stretch run by adding a scorer or a penalty-killer and whether they should trade one of their pending UFAs (Dan Ellis, Pekka Rinne, Dan Hamhuis). Glennon doubts the Predators would get much back in return for any of the latter by the deadline and at this point it appears management will retain them. Given their recent 2-6-1 record they might tweak to bolster their depth.
Does anyone know if we have any penalty killers to spare?
Thanks in advance.

Wouldnt give up Kelly or Fisher, they are 100% earning their money this year, especially Kelly who will prob hit the 15 goal mark, with a good stretch could hit 20. I dont think that was even in the relm of possibility for him to ever do that, he may come close. I wouldnt trade off anyone from those bottom 2 lines in all honesty.

You don't even have a complete 2nd line but you wouldn't trade one of our 20 3rd/4th liners? OK.
I guess we're supposed to trade untradeable players and unwanted prospects to upgrade this team? Interesting philosophy.

Depending on the return I think you consider trading one of Kelly or Shannon. I mean, if it meant that someone like Cheechoo is packaged going the other way and we pick up a legit top-six that we can re-sign then I think it has to be considered.
For instance, if it was Cheechoo and Kelly for say... Patrick Sharp, I think you do it... We'll miss Kelly's penalty killing but we add a top-six and lose a a heavy contract. Not saying this would happen but you have to consider trading everyone on the team but a few staples at this point if it means improving your team for the future.
Still very curious to see what BM does with A-Train.

Depends what your getting back... Are there any forward in Nashville that would be a better fit on The Sens top 2 lines the a Kelly or Shannon would if they were dealt? Not any that Nashville would be willing to give up.
All depends on the return but I would trade Kelly for some rental nor would I trade Shannon at that cap hit right now. They are both playing solid hockey and Kelly is having a career year.

Cheechoo and Kelly for Patrick Sharp? Why????
Sharp is a great PKer, and Chicago takes on salary to acquire a guy no one wants (Cheechoo) and gives up the best player? Enough said.
There is no chance Cheechoo is part of a deal for a T6F unless we are trading one of our prized kids and need him to balance salary. To that I say:

Thats the big one for me as well. I think Murray may risk trying to resign him and perhaps move Kuba in the summer, that could mean buying out Cheechoo.
