The real Beauchemin, without the 2 superstars.

I dont even care it was a 3 point game, those two teams are brutal. I cant believe The Leafs found a way to lose that game.

The fact The Leafs found a way to lose that game should scare a few people.

Any more than the Sens losing to Boston?

I can't believe you actually said that, and no smileys to be seen anywhere.

Boston is supposed to be the Division lead and one of the top-4 ("a lock" according to SD) in the Conference. Ottawa is not even in the playoffs if you ask anyone without a userid on GMH. They were supposed to lose to Boston, especially since they hadn't even played a single game with the same lineup or the same lines, and their #1 D (arguably) was not playing. Yes, I know it was the second game in two nights, and yes, I know they had several regulars out of the lineup, but Ottawa outplayed them handily. If that had been a regular season, full-squad game, it still would have been close.

The Leafs got 47 shots on goal and still managed to lose their season and home opener against an old rival. Komisarek took 4 minors (well, technically 2 minors and a double minor) with one leading directly to a goal. This is against he former team -- he was supposed to be a stud in this game, blocking shots, hitting Keebler elves left-and-right. The rest of the defense wasn't much better. I thought Beauchemin was supposed to be something -- he was something else entirely on that Gionta at goal. Looked like he was playing in a different period than the rest of the players.

This does not bode well for the Leafs. They may be forced to bring in Gustavsson earlier than they wanted, and let's face it, this is not a rookie goaltender named Patrick Roy -- those ones come along once every 30-40 years, maybe.
