Michael Grabner will drop off. As for Sens I'd say Butler doesn't produce at the same rate he did last season.

Very possible, but I hope you're wrong. If he does produce at the same rate, he should have 22 goals, 25 assists, and 47 points. I don't think that's out of the question. It'll be a feat, but it's definitely possible.

Unless you meant that he won't produce at the rate that he did when he started producing. How many games did he play before he opened up? 7? 8? Something like that? Knock 8 games off the total to account for his slow start and we get into some crazy numbers. 29 goals, 32 assists, and 61 points. I don't see him reaching those splits.

Either way, it's likely that he'll come down to earth to some degree, but the potential is there. He was extremely productive once he got going. We'll see.

It was 12 games before he hit his stride I think. As far as his totals for next year, 47 points is attainable in a big way - I'd be slightly surprised if he didn't get anywhere between 45 and 55 points. He's got a huge in as Spezza's right hand man, hopefully he does it.

12? Wow. Then, excluding that (which I realize is crazy, but bear with me), he'd be pacing for 34 goals, 37 assists, and 71 points. If that's the baseline, then I say he definitely drops. If the 47 point mark is our baseline, I think that's doable. It won't be easy, but he would absolutely have a shot at those numbers.

I'd only bet against that if I got decent odds. I think he'll hit 20g.

I would think he has a huge shot at it.

I also believe that SpezDispenser will see a major drop-off in production. This year he's only gonna contribute 6000 posts. Sarcasm

it really depends were on the line-up he plays but unless he slides past the top two lines or injured i'd wager some serious cash on it.

Out of the spotlight of SJ (and I think it was a spotlight) and into the relative quiet of Minny, where the fans are serious, but the city and the hockey news stemming from there routinely seems to be left behind in lieu of other, bigger cities.

I think it will be a stretch if he hits 30, he will be the highest profile player on the team and most teams will focus on taking his space away. He's been declining the last few years and I think the slide will continue.

Minny is more hockey mad than SJ.

He will once again be dealing with a rookie coach who will undoubtedly ask him to "move his feet" at some point in the season. That's when the Heatley NHL Comedy Show will begin.

They might be more hockey crazy as a fanbase, but they don't get as much print and publicity as San Jose - at least not that I've seen.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but did not Butler's offense start picking up when they put him on a line with Spezza?

I can't remember if he played with Spezza before he opened the floodgates, but he was definitely playing with JS towards the end when he was productive. Butler is a finisher. He's exactly what we need on that line (that is, he's exactly what we need if he can build on his success last season).

It must be...damned if I can't remember for some reason, but I do remember him going 12 games and not doing much, then being sent back to Bingo, then being re-called and starting to score in waves.

There must be a correlation.
